A significant number of Epic Games Store users that were looking forward to claiming The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos next week for free received some bad news after word broke out that the game would not be available in certain nations. Some Epic Games Store users raised questions and reached out to the developer to find out the reasons why.
During the June 22 free game refresh, the Epic Games Store revealed that The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos will be free for EGS users to claim from June 29 to July 6. The 2020 title is a tactical RPG that was created as a parody of the fantasy genre, inspired by the likes of Dungeons and Dragons and similar series. While EGS users wait for it to become a free game, Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is a similar title within the genre that can be claimed until June 29, alongside theHunter: Call of the Wild. However, users in certain parts of the globe will not be able to claim The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos despite the efforts of social media users.
On Reddit, a user named kiwi_pro from the r/EpicGamesPC subreddit said that they reached out to Artefacts Studio, the France-based developer of The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, and asked why users in countries such as Argentina, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan would not be receiving the aforementioned tactical RPG for free on the Epic Games Store come June 29. In their response, Artefacts Studio said that the game would not be available for EGS users to claim in regions where the game is not being sold on that storefront.
When asked why specific regions were excluded, the OP said that Artefact Studio cited regional pricing in specific countries in a follow-up. Despite the fact that the game will not be available on EGS to some users, some Redditors pointed out that The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos is still available on Steam and on modern consoles with regional pricing options available in those nations. This means that only the Epic Games Store was affected by the developer's decision.
At the time of writing, Epic Games has not commented on the situation. Barring any sudden change of plans, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos will be available to claim for free on the Epic Games Store next week.
The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
