Epic Games Store Will Give Away 2024 Title with 83 Critic…

The Epic Games Store has officially revealed Botany Manor as the star of its February 5 giveaway, which will also include one DLC pack. The newly announced promotion will arrive hot on the heels of an eventful January that saw Epic Games Store give away over $200 worth of titles.

The most recent of these giveaways was Rustler – Grand Theft Horse, a medieval-themed, top-down open-world action game inspired by the 2D-era Grand Theft Auto titles. Rustler was available for free on the Epic Games Store from January 22 to 29, and has since been replaced by a new complimentary offering: Definitely Not Fried Chicken.

Epic Games Store Giving Away Botany Manor, Pixel Gun 3D DLC Next Week

As soon as Epic formally launched its January 29 promotion, the landing page dedicated to its weekly freebies was updated to reveal the contents of next week's giveaway, which will center on Botany Manor and the Poison Retro Set for Pixel Gun 3D. Neither were ever free on the Epic Games Store in the past, at least in part because they haven't been around for long. Botany Manor and the Poison Retro Set will be free to claim from February 5 until 12, beginning and ending at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET. Both are regularly priced at $24.99, making the retail value of Epic's February 5 giveaway double that of this week's promotion.

Botany Manor Is a Treat for Fans of Cozy Exploration

In terms of critical acclaim, Botany Manor stands out as the definitive highlight among the upcoming pair of freebies. Developed by UK-based Balloon Studios, this first-person puzzler generated a lot of positive buzz following its spring 2024 release. It ultimately reached the "Strong" rating threshold on OpenCritic, with an average score of 83 and a 91% reviewer recommendation rate, placing it in the top 11% of highest-rated titles tracked by the aggregator. Critics praised it for its cozy atmosphere, fair and varied puzzles, and a picturesque setting centered on a Victorian English manor, among other qualities. Overall, Botany Manor established itself as one of the highest-rated puzzle games of 2024.

Of the six freebies Epic has released so far in 2026, only Total War: Three Kingdoms holds a higher OpenCritic rating than Botany Manor, edging it out by two points in both average review score and recommendation rate. Pixel Gun 3D doesn't command that level of critical acclaim, but it has some decidedly evergreen success to its name, as it's been going strong since its humble mobile beginnings in 2013. While its blocky aesthetic is immediately evocative of Minecraft, the two don't have much in common on the gameplay side of things, with Pixel Gun 3D—true to its name—being a shooter. The debut title from Cyprus-based Cubic Games Studio, Pixel Gun 3D's staying power is at least partly fueled by its varied and ever-expanding multiplayer modes, as well as its maximally accessible free-to-play business model.

While waiting for the Poison Retro Set and Botany Manor giveaway to arrive, Epic Games Store users can grab Definitely Not Fried Chicken, which is free until February 5. First launched in September 2023, this peculiar management sim making its EGS freebie debut plays a lot like a whimsical Gustavo Fring simulator, tasking players with building a drug empire under the guide of fast food and some other fronts. In other words, very Breaking Bad-coded.
