How to Fish in Enshrouded

Fishing can be done in any body of water, but you’ll have the best luck in areas with visible ripples and circular waves. These areas indicate fish-rich hotspots. Once you’ve found a suitable fishing location, you just need to follow these steps:

Equip your fishing rod from your inventory.
Select your fishing bait, depending on the rarity of the fish you want to catch.
Left-click while holding the fishing rod to cast your line. A power bar will appear that indicates how far you can throw. Release the click when the bar fills to your desired casting distance.
Wait patiently for a fish to bite.
When the fish bites, left-click again to reel it in. Stronger fish will resist more, so timing and persistence matter.
Once caught, an animation will show the type of fish you’ve landed.
Press E to collect the fish or right-click to release it if you don’t want it.

How to Get & Use Fishing Rod & Bait in Enshrouded

To catch fish, you’ll first need a fishing rod. Open the Craft menu and craft a Simple Fishing Rod using 2 Twigs, 2 Metal Scraps and a String to get started. As you progress in the game, you’ll unlock better rods that make fishing much easier.

After the fishing pole, the next thing you need to attract fish in Enshrouded is Fishing Bait. Each bait type corresponds to specific biomes and fish rarities. You’ll need to collect small critters such as insects and amphibians from all over Embervale, then use them to craft bait recipes. You can then craft different fishing bait using these materials.

You can unlock Fishing Bait recipes by completing specific quests for Hunter and Fisher during your early adventures in the Veilwater Basin.

For Hunter’s Fishing Bait recipes, you need to complete the “Unknown Waters” quest. This quest rewards you with a Simple Fishing Rod and the Simple Fishing Bait Recipe. These can be crafted anytime from your Crafting Menu.

For advanced bait types, complete the “Nice Day for Fishing” quest for the Fisher. Doing so grants you an Excellent Fishing Rod. You will also unlock recipes for different types of fishing baits, like Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic.
