UMLs, or Unique Marine Life, are rare creatures found in Endless Ocean Luminous. Sometimes, these can be uncommon fish, or particularly large versions of creatures, and much more. Finding Unique Marine Life can be difficult to do, even after you have been informed that there is one in the near vicinity.
As you get into more Solo and Shared Dives in the game, you'll find that Unique Marine Life will often appear as announced by Sera. If you're struggling to locate these rare creatures, this guide will give you some tips to more easily locate them and complete the required quest.

How to Unlock Unique Marine Life in Endless Ocean Luminous
Before you can go searching for some Unique Marine Life in Endless Ocean Luminous, you'll first need to complete a few things during your Shared Dive or Solo Dive. UMLs usually won't appear immediately, so you'll need to do the following first to prompt them to spawn:
- First, start either a new session of a Solo Dive or Shared Dive. If you want to make it easier to find Unique Marine Life, we highly suggest using a Shared Dive, so you can work together with others to explore the map and find the UMLs.
- While in either mode, you will need to discover seven different creatures with unusual biometric signs. Your guide, Sera, will inform you of these biometric signs, and you'll be able to find them in areas on the map that are marked by an orange circle.
- When you head towards the correct area, your reticle will begin flashing orange quickly when you are near to the creature. Once you've discovered all seven, you'll then have access to locating a UML.

How to Find Unique Marine Life in Endless Ocean Luminous
After successfully discovering all seven creatures, you'll get a notification from Sera about a large and unusual creature found in the area. To unlock the entire map, you'll need to uncover at least 80 percent of the area. Then, you'll just need to search for the UML on the map with an orange circle, as shown in the second image. Just like with the other seven creatures you had to search for earlier, you'll want to be on the lookout for the reticle blinking with an orange circle in the middle again.
Keep in mind that you only have a short amount of time to catch the UML, otherwise they will disappear. If this occurs, you'll start a new mission to uncover more creatures with strange biometric signs, and you'll be given another chance to find and scan a UML. Each session is one hour, so you should have enough time to find at least one UML.
