The Best War Games can exclusively reveal a new trailer for Ember and Blade, and confirm the release date for its next demo. The playable build of LINE Games' upcoming action RPG will launch just ahead of the October 2025 edition of Steam Next Fest.
Founded in 2012, LINE Games is a LINE Yahoo subsidiary based out of Seoul. To date, the South Korean developer-publisher has released a handful of titles, including roguelike ARPG Next Hero and visual novel Buried Stars, launched in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The company's next project, Ember and Blade, is described as a "survivors-like" experience combining real-time combat, cel-shaded visuals, and an elaborate storyline intertwined with meta progression mechanics. In this respect, it appears somewhat reminiscent of Hades, albeit with a different progression loop: instead of Hades's room-by-room Boon selections, Ember and Blade mixes mob wave pressure with angel "blessings" and skill combos granted mid-run.
Upcoming Role-Playing Games People Are Excited For
While plenty of RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming role-playing games are especially exciting.
Ember and Blade Showcases Stylish Gameplay in New Trailer
While Ember and Blade is still waiting for many availability details, LINE Games has now shared its new trailer, which The Best War Games can exclusively reveal. The two-minute video offers another look at the massive enemy hordes players will need to overcome over the course of the game, on top of teasing its story, which revolves around a quest to stop the return of a menacing archdemon. About halfway through the trailer, the video shows the ARPG's skill tree, featuring passive abilities such as Empyreal Resolve, which increases Blessing damage, and active skills like Flash Counter, which lets players strike back immediately after a precise dodge.
Another Ember and Blade Demo Launching on October 3
Ember and Blade will receive a new demo on October 3, in the lead-up to the upcoming edition of Steam Next Fest, a LINE Games representative told The Best War Games. The next iteration of SNF is scheduled to kick off on October 13 and will run for exactly seven days. The Ember and Blade demo is likely to be pulled from Steam once the event ends.
This will be the game's second publicly playable build to date, following a limited-time demo that was available in July 2025. It won't be identical to its predecessor, with the developer describing it as a "vertical slice" of the game that "invites players into Act 2 for the first time" and introduces several new angel allies, as well as one new boss.
Ember and Blade is presently targeting a 2026 release. In the meantime, LINE Games is planning to launch it as part of the Steam Early Access program before the end of 2025, having said as much in a July press release. No platforms beyond PC have yet been confirmed for the upcoming action RPG. Likewise, LINE Games has yet to share any pricing details.
