Selling things is a huge part of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, but it never seems like merchants have enough gold to pay for all the loot that players collect when dungeon crawling throughout Cyrodiil. While merchants' gold coffers work a bit differently in Oblivion Remastered than they do in other Bethesda RPGs, finding a merchant with a large amount of gold is still the best way to make the most money from loot and unwanted equipment.
In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, merchants have a seemingly endless supply of gold that never depletes. Instead of vendors having an actual balance of gold that rises and falls as they trade with the player, Oblivion Remastered merchants have a maximum amount that they will spend in a single transaction when a player sells goods. This means that the player can repeatedly sell an infinite number of items to any merchant, but they won't buy anything that's more expensive than their listed gold amount. If you're wondering which merchants have the highest single-purchase gold allotment, read on below to find out.
Which Merchants Have the Most Gold in Oblivion Remastered?
Even though merchants in Oblivion Remastered have infinite supplies of gold, players should still seek out vendors with bigger coin purses since they'll be willing to spend more per transaction. There are quite a few merchants across Cyrodiil with higher-than-average gold amounts, but the best merchants are locked behind specific guild quests.
Fathis Ules is the only merchant in Oblivion Remastered with 1500 gold, making him the merchant with the largest amount of gold in the entire game. However, Fathis Ules is locked behind the Thieves Guild questline. He will only trade with players once they reach the rank of Master Thief by completing the Arrow of Extrication quest for Gray Fox. Unfortunately, Fathis Ules has a master-level Mercantile skill, so his prices are high and his offers for players' goods are low.
For non-thieving players, there are other merchants in Oblivion Remastered with above-average stores of gold. Agnete the Pickled at Hammer and Tongs in Skingrad has 1200 gold to barter with, and the same goes for Varel Morvayn at Morvayn's Peacemakers in Anvil. Other than Fathis Ules, these are the two richest merchants in Oblivion Remastered.
Since merchants in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered have basically infinite pockets, players can repeatedly sell goods without bankrupting them. Their listed gold only limits the amount they will spend in a single deal, so players can bypass this limit by completing multiple transactions and selling items at lower prices. There are also other ways to make gold in Oblivion Remastered, so if you can't find a merchant with enough gold for what you're selling, try a different money-making tactic.
