Recent reports from various insiders have suggested that Xbox could be going completely multi-platform with its games, which would presumably include The Elder Scrolls 6 from Bethesda. When Microsoft acquired Bethesda, PlayStation fans were worried that it meant they would no longer be able to play the company's games on their platform of choice. Sure enough, Bethesda-published titles have become Xbox console exclusives, including Arkane's co-op vampire shooter Redfall and massive open world sci-fi RPG Starfield.

With Starfield being an Xbox console exclusive, it's long been assumed that The Elder Scrolls 6 would experience a similar fate, releasing only on PC and Xbox platforms. That could very well still be the case, and so PlayStation gamers should certainly keep their expectations in check. However, there is at least some hope that The Elder Scrolls 6, and all future Bethesda games for that matter, could come to PlayStation consoles.

According to recent reports, which originated from XboxEra, and have since been corroborated by others, Xbox could very well be going multi-plat. While Xbox will still have its own consoles and ecosystem, it seems that the company is looking to expand its IP to competing platforms. An official announcement has not been made at the time of this writing, but if the company does go multi-plat as rumored, it seems likely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be coming to PlayStation. After all, reports suggest that Starfield is coming to PS5, so there's no reason to assume that Xbox won't do the same with The Elder Scrolls 6 when the time comes.

Now, The Elder Scrolls 6 potentially coming to PlayStation could happen with caveats. For example, it's possible that Xbox games will be available on Xbox platforms first before coming to PlayStation and other consoles, though that's just speculation at this time. We really have no idea how Xbox multi-plat games will work, and so fans should hang tight for more concrete information from official sources.

Will Elder Scrolls 6 Be Released for PS5?

If The Elder Scrolls 6 does come to PlayStation, that's not a guarantee that the game will be released for PS5. Bethesda is still supporting Starfield with regular updates and is actively working on sizable DLC expansions for the game, so the studio's full focus is not yet on The Elder Scrolls 6. It's been previously suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 release date won't be until 2028 at the earliest, in which case, it's plausible that the game could actually be released for next-generation Xbox and PlayStation platforms instead of the currently-available Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Regardless of where The Elder Scrolls 6 ends up, chances are greater now than they have been since Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda that the game could come to a PlayStation console, whether that's the PS5 or PS6.
