The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is particularly well-known for its immersive, open-ended quests and memorable faction questlines. One of the most famous quests in Oblivion is "Whodunit?", a Dark Brotherhood quest that tasks players to kill every other guest in a house without anybody raising suspicion.
Oblivion Remastered: Which Race Should You Pick?
All Races in Oblivion Remastered have strengths and weaknesses, but the best Oblivion Remastered races offer powerful benefits for specific builds.
There are multiple ways to complete "Whodunit?" And kill every guest without getting caught in Oblivion Remastered. This guide explains how to start the "Whodunit?" Quest in Oblivion Remastered and details three methods to complete this quest without arousing suspicion: the straightforward stealth assassination method, the Disposition and manipulation method, and the
Poisoned Apple method.
How To Start "Whodunit?"
"Do you like parties? Because you've been invited to one. Of course, you'll be killing all the other guests. Are you ready to attend?"
To start the "Whodunit?" Quest, Oblivion Remastered players must progress through the Dark Brotherhood questline until they finish all four of Vicente Valtieri's newcomer quests. You will be sent to get new contracts from Ocheeva.
After completing her first two contracts, "The Lonely Wanderer" and "Bad Medicine", Ocheeva will offer the "Whodunit?" Quest and direct you to a Summitmist Manor in Cheydinhal.
Oblivion Remastered "Whodunit?" Contract Walkthrough
Your goal in "Whodunit?" Is to kill all five other guests trapped in the house. Seems simple enough, but to get the bonus, you must kill them one by one without arousing any suspicion from the remaining guests. To begin the murder mystery quest, Oblivion Remastered players must head to Skingrad and follow the compass to find Summitmist Manor in the middle of the city. Talk to the doorman to get the key to the manor, then head inside.
There are five guests you must kill to complete the Oblivion Remastered "Whodunit?" Quest:
- Dovesi Dran, a young Dark Elf woman, who typically spends time upstairs or wandering to and from the dining table. She fawns over Primo, and can be convinced to wait for him alone upstairs.
- Matilde Petit, an old Breton woman who mostly wanders around the two main floors of the house, but doesn't like Dovesi Dran very much.
- Nels the Naughty, a burly Nord man who almost always stands in the corner near the dining table with his back to the wall, whose deceased daughter looked like Dovesi Dran.
- Neville, a rich Nobleman who is usually pacing around the lower floor or sitting at the dining table, who takes a fancy to Dovesi and can be convinced to wait for her upstairs.
- Primo Antonius, a Redguard and former Imperial Legion soldier who can be found alone upstairs at the start of the mission, but otherwise wanders throughout the house.
Most of the guests will go to bed at some point in the night, which typically leaves them alone and vulnerable.

Simply Kill Guests With Stealth Archery One By One
The easiest method to complete "Whodunit?" Oblivion Remastered players can use is to kill them off one by one with a bow. Use a high-damage bow with at least Steel Arrows for even more damage, and the 3x damage from Sneak attacks should be able to kill every "Whodunit?" NPC in a single hit.
The tricky part with this is getting everyone alone. Though guests will wander the house, they tend to stick together. The easiest targets to kill first are Matilde Petit when she enters the stairwell that leads to the second floor, Primo Antonius when he is alone upstairs, or Neville when he wanders around the ground floor. As long as no one else can see you, indicated by the Stealth Eye on your crosshair, you will not get caught.
The hardest to kill is Nels, who is almost always standing by the dining table and drinking with his back to the wall. Crouch by the stairs that lead to the bedrooms, then slowly peek around the corner until you have a clear shot. There's a fine line between being seen and staying hidden, so be sure to check your stealth eye and make a quick save before you try to snipe him.
Raise Your Disposition To Avoid Suspicion
If you would rather avoid the Stealth Archer gameplay, you can instead choose to play the psychological game. Essentially, if every Guest thinks highly of you, they will not suspect you when the murders start. Raise your standing with each character in the house, either with the Persuasion wheel minigame or by bribing them, until you raise their Disposition to 70.
At this point, the guests will tell you what they really think of the others, and it's worth checking in every time you kill someone to see if they have anything new to say that you can take advantage of later on. Wait until you have a high Disposition before you start hunting them down to learn more information.
Oblivion Remastered: How To Get Skooma
To get more Skooma, Oblivion Remastered players can look for this illegal substance out in the world or find a Skooma vendor.
Kill Some Guests, Make The Rest Turn On Each Other
One of the things you can discover by having a high relationship with each of the guests in the Murder Mystery quest in Oblivion Remastered is that they really don't like each other.
- For example, Dovesi Dran hates Matilde Petit and Primo Antonius, and will try to attack them if either is still alive after three other guests have been killed.
- Additionally, Primo Antonius hates Nords, and Nils hates Imperials for what they did to his daughter. After you murder other guests, as long as your disposition is high enough, these two will blame the other and start swinging.
As long as the guests won't blame you for the murders, they will instead start to turn on each other. All they need is a little prodding – after you commit each murder, talk to each guest to see if they blame another guest. If you leave them both alive, they will fight after the three other guests have been murderered, and you'll only have to worry about killing the final survivor.
The Poisoned Apple Method
There is another method players can take to almost entirely avoid conflict and roleplaying. If you use Poisoned Apples, you will be able to kill all but one guest (Nels) without arousing any suspicion or worrying about manipulating them against each other. You must first find Poisoned Apples, as there are none in the house.
Talk to M'raaj Dar in the Cheydinhal Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary to purchase up to five, or look in a Very Hard locked barrel inside Lucien Lachance's lair within Fort Farragut to find a pile of 10.
To use a Poisoned Apple, you must first remove all other sources of food from the immediate environment. If you do not do this, there's a strong chance the NPC will go for the regular food instead of the Poisoned Apple.
Then, you can either place the Poisoned Apple on the table in front of your target, or reverse pickpocket it into their inventory. If there are no other Food items around or in your target's inventory, they will pull it out and unknowingly bring about their demise. The Poisoned Apple deals a permanent 10 Health damage every second, and cannot be dispelled, so be careful not to accidentally eat one yourself.
Oblivion Remastered: Level Scaling, Explained
The level scaling system in Oblivion Remastered closely resembles the original game's level scaling with some minor differences.
Oblivion Remastered "Whodunit?" Quest Rewards & Bonus
If you successfully kill every guest in the "Whodunit?" Murder mystery quest, Oblivion Remastered players will receive an extremely powerful permanent bonus. Talk to Ocheeva, and she will bestow upon you the Night Mother's Blessing, a permanent bonus to your skills, which gives +2 to Sneak, Security, Acrobatics, Blade, and Marksman.
You will also receive a scaling amount of Gold based on your level, and access to the final Ocheeva contract: "Permanent Retirement," which requires players to slay a now-retired Imperial Guard captain, then place his finger in the office of his successor as a warning from the Dark Brotherhood.
