How to Get Lion Pelt in Oblivion Remastered

Lion Pelts can be obtained as guaranteed drops from slain Mountain Lions in Oblivion Remastered. However, for players who don't want to go through the hassle of looking for a wild Mountain Lion to hunt in random places, there are alternatives to obtaining Lion Pelts. All methods are detailed below.

Hunting Mountain Lions

Mountain Lions are mid-game enemies that only start appearing in various forests around Cyrodiil around Level 10-12. Before this level, there is no way to encounter a Mountain Lion in the wild, making hunting for a Lion Pelt impossible at early levels. They spawn most often near roads, lying in ambush for an unsuspecting passerby, or inside caves.

The easiest Mountain Lion to find is the one that spawns directly north of the Imperial City, on the other side of the Lake surrounding the Imperial City. Other common locations include the Blackwood Forest east of Leyawiin, in the mountains surrounding Brina's Cross Inn north of Anvil, and in the Colovian Highlands west of Chorrol.

Fighters Guild Quest: A Rat Problem

The very first Contract assigned to the Hero upon joining the Fighters Guild in Anvil is called A Rat Problem. During its course, you will need to slay a total of six Starved Mountain Lions. All of them will drop 1 Lion Pelt.

The level of the player character does not matter for this quest, and it is very easy to complete it at Level 1. The Starved Mountain Lions are weaker variants of the normal Mountain Lion, and their level is scaled down to match that of the Hero.

Merchants

General Merchants in various locations will often sell Lion Pelts for a sum of Gold. Do note, however, that the loot merchants carry is leveled, including Lion Pelts. A Level 1 character will never find a Lion Pelt for sale at a merchant, but a Level 12 character will. Some Merchants who occasionally sell Lion Pelts are:

How to Start Molag Bal's Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To start Molag Bal's Daedric quest, obtain a single Lion Pelt and locate Molag Bal's Shrine west of the Imperial City (marked above). Talk to Amir, the Redguard, to begin the quest: Molag Bal. Completing this quest rewards players with the Mace of Molag Bal, one of the most powerful one-handed weapons in the game.

Molag Bal's quest can only be undertaken at Level 17 or above.
