The hunt for the strong weapons in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered could be quite lengthy, especially knowing that some of the top-tier weapons are locked behind late-game story missions, but that doesn't completely lock the players out of powerful weapons — not as long as they have some extra gold coins to spend!

Three weapons in Oblivion Remastered tie in the highest base damage, and Bound Sword is the only one that players can get access to any time in the game, though it does come with certain requirements that must be met in order to wield the blade. However, it's still good news that Bound Sword is not tied to any quest in the game!

How To Get Bound Sword, The Strongest Claymore In Oblivion Remastered

Bound Sword is a weapon that is only available through casting a certain spell of the same name. The neat part is that every player can purchase this spell from a vendor in Chorrol. All you need to do is visit the Mage's Guild building in the western city of Chorrol and then talk to Athragar. Now, open his trading options, and Bound Sword should be visible.

Aside from Athragar, two other vendors offer this spell for sale: Raminus Polus at Arcane University of Imperial City and Volanaro at Mage's Guild of Bruma. Athragar offers the cheapest price for the spell, while also selling other Bound spells such as Bound Mace, Bound Shield, Bound Bow, and Bound Cuirass. However, none of them are as powerful as Bound Sword.

Bound Sword Requirements

Bound Sword Drawn - Oblivion Remastered

Moving to the requirements, Bound Sword is a pretty expensive spell. It costs 2,203 gold coins at the very least, and even haggling will not reduce the price that much. So, the first requirement is to get rich enough to buy the spell, and then you will need a high level of Magicka, which corresponds to Intelligence in your main attributes.

The cost of a single cast of Bound Sword is different depending on the player's level. It's not something players can afford at entry levels, but even if you have enough Magicka to cast it, the spell is only available to Expert players, and that means you need to reach beyond Level 75. That is the primary blocker to using Bound Sword.

Bound Sword Stats - Oblivion Remastered

Also, it's worth noting that casting Bound Sword will only allow the player to hold the weapon for 15 seconds, after which the sword will vanish. So, it's quite important to have a faster regeneration rate of Magicka to cast the spell repeatedly and renew the use time.

The base damage of Bound Sword is 30, which is the highest among all Claymores. Only two other weapons match the base damage of Bound Sword: Nevershatter and Perfect Amber Hammer, both of which belong to Shivering Isles.
