There are a lot of things that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fans remember about the original 2006 game, for better or worse. Among the most iconic characters in Oblivion is the Adoring Fan, whose hilarious voice lines and annoying, doting demeanor have made him something of a meme in the Oblivion community since the game came out.

The Oblivion Remastered Dark Brotherhood quests are some of the darkest – and most rewarding – quests in The Elder Scrolls, let alone just Oblivion.

Returning in Oblivion Remastered, Adoring Fan can be recruited as a Follower if you meet certain requirements. This guide explains how to get the Adoring Fan follower in Oblivion Remastered, and what the Adoring Fan can do (aside from shining your boots or giving you a backrub).

How To Get The Adoring Fan Follower in Oblivion Remastered

To recruit the Adoring Fan, Oblivion Remastered players must complete the entire Imperial Arena questline, defeat the Grey Prince, and become the Grand Champion of the Arena. There are a total of 21 normal fights in the Arena, three for each of the seven Ranks you will advance through as you continue to defeat the fighters on the Yellow Team.

After you defeat the final fight of the Hero Rank, against two Dark Elf Bloodletters and the Yellow Team Champion, you will be crowned the Champion of the Blue Team. Then, find Agronak gro-Malog (the Grey Prince) and challenge him for his title of Grand Champion.

You can also follow the quest Origins of the Grey Prince to discover the true reason why Agronah-gro-Malog is, well, grey. As it turns out, he is afflicted with a form of Vampirism. If you tell him this as part of the quest, he will become distraught and essentially surrender during the final fight, allowing you to kill him without any retaliation.

Either way, whether you choose to fight the Grey Prince normally or after telling him about his origins, you must talk to Ysabel Andronicus, who sits on a chair across the room from Owyn. Choose your preferred Heavy or Light Raiment, then exit the arena to the city.

Once you have achieved the Grand Champion title, you will be able to recruit the Adoring Fan. Oblivion Remastered players can find the Adoring Fan just outside the Arena, where he will charge towards you.

What Does The Adoring Fan Do?

Once you recruit the Adoring Fan to your side, this strange little Wood Elf will follow you to the ends of Cyrodiil and beyond, even into the plane of Oblivion itself. However, in the original game and in Oblivion Remastered, the Adoring Fan follower cannot do much.

Though he suggests that he could "carry your weapon," he doesn't seem to be able to perform any special actions, and he isn't very strong in combat – in fact, all he seems to be able to do is sing your praises as the Grand Champion, or be ordered to wait in a location.

If you enter a cave or an underground area, he will equip a Torch item to light your way. But that's as far as special Adoring Fan mechanics go in Oblivion Remastered.

To get rid of the Adoring Fan, talk to the Adoring Fan, then choose the "Beat it, kid. I don't need a fan." Dialogue option. The Adoring Fan will return to the steps of the Imperial Arena. If you ever want to recruit him as a follower again, simply talk to him again here and tell him to "Follow your esteemed Grand Champion!"
