An Elden Ring player came across a clever trick that helped defeat the Mimic Tear in one shot with just a Lightning Pot. The Mimic Tear is considered one of the most fun bosses in Elden Ring, considering that it is up to the player to decide how difficult or easy they want the battle to be and what abilities it will have.

With the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC right around the corner, fans have been flocking back to Elden Ring to give the game another try and find any possibly unknown secret along the way. Amid that, a fan has found a strategy that several other players have been unaware of.

While armor is crucial to keep players alive in Elden Ring, for those willing to sacrifice safety for fashion, these are the perfect sets to find!

In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user bugzapperbob showcases a neat trick to get rid of the Mimic Tear before it can even do anything. If players hit the Mimic Tear with a Lightning Pot from afar in Elden Ring, before allowing it to transform, the boss dies instantly. While there are other handy tricks to deal with the Mimic Tear with ease, this is by far one of the easiest to pull off, considering it just requires players to have a Lightning Pot, which isn't that hard to get in the first place. The reason why this works is that the tear form is extremely weak to lightning, making it an easy target.

The Mimic Tear is a creative boss in Elden Ring, as it simply becomes a clone of the player. As a result, whatever weapons, armor, and sorceries the player has will get mimicked by the boss. Essentially, players end up fighting themselves, which is an exciting part of the game. While it can become extremely tricky to defeat the boss if one has a good build, some players found another clever way of making the battle easy by unequipping all items before encountering the boss. Once the boss clones the player, they can simply equip their items back and defeat it with ease.

Elden Ring Fans Have Reservations Against One-Shot Mimic Tear Trick

While this trick does make the battle a breeze, some fans are not quite happy with it. A few highlighted how it is a great challenge and way of putting their gear to the test, while others preferred the more quirky approach of having a fistfight with each other with no items equipped at all. Considering how enjoyable the battle seems to be in the community, it seems like this would serve as a trick more for Elden Ring speedrunners than anybody else.
