The Horned Warrior is a challenging enemy type in the Elden Ring DLC that has a chance to drop his unique Armor Set and Weapon upon dying. The Horned Warriors are heavily armored and said to be the keepers of Belurat Tower.
Players who want to replicate their appearance and use the devastating attacks these Warriors perform will need to create a build surrounding these things. This guide includes details on the
Horned Warrior's Sword and Greatsword, along with what Armor Set and Talismans players will need to use to replicate these tough warriors in Shadow of the Erdtree.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtee - All Backhand Blades, Ranked
Backhand Blades are a new weapon type in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree that are incredibly fun, blending high damage with fast movement.
How To Get Horned Armor Set & Overview
The Horned Warrior Set can be obtained as a drop from the Horned Warrior roaming in Belurat Tower Settlement. The quickest way to farm the Set is to equip the
Silver Tear Mask and
Silver Scarab Talisman and make your way to the Small Private Altar Site of Grace. From here, go up the stairs to find a patrolling Horned Warrior you can defeat repeatedly.
The Armor Set weighs 25.1 in total and offers 47 Poise, which is relatively low. The
Horned Warrior Helm increases Strength by five but reduces the healing from Flask of Crimson Tears.
Apart from the Helm, all the other set pieces provide no passive bonus.
How To Get Horned Warrior's Sword & Overview
Similar to the
Horned Warrior Set, the
Horned Warrior's Sword is also a weapon that Horned Warriors and Divine Bird Warriors drop. To farm these enemies, you can go to the Small Private Altar Site of Grace in Belurat Tower Settlement or the Outer Wall Site of Grace in Enir-Ilim.
You can upgrade the Horned Warrior Sword to +10 using Somber Smithing Stones and a
Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Listed below are the attributes required to wield the weapon effectively and its respective scaling:

How To Get Horned Warrior's Greatsword & Overview
The
Horned Warrior's Greatsword drops from the Wind-Aspected Horned Warrior, who is located right before the Cleansing Chamber Anterrom Site of Grace in Enir-Ilim. The weapon is guaranteed to drop, and in this fight, you can summon your Spirit Ash to aid you in taking this Warrior down.
You can upgrade the Horned Warrior's Greatsword to +10 using Somber Smithing Stones and a

Elden Ring: Who Is St. Trina
St. Trina is an NPC who appears in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and has connections to Miquella. Here's what you need to know about her.
Best Talismans To Pair With The Horned Warrior Weapons
The Talismans listed below cater to everything the Horned Warrior Build provides and buffs most attacks. If you are equipping the Greatsword, you can use the Two-Handed Sword Talisman and remove the Claw Talisman. The Shard of Alexander is present to buff the Ash of War on both weapons. The Armor Set is low on Poise, so the Bull-Goat's Talisman is integral to this build.
|
Talisman |
Description |
|---|---|
|
You can find the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman in Miquella's Haligtree, and equipping this Talisman boosts your damage negation by 20%. |
|
|
This can be found on a corpse atop a watchtower in Stormveil Castle. Claw Talisman increases jump attack damage by 15%. |
|
|
You can acquire this upon completing Iron Fist Alexander's questline. The Shard of Alexander increases the damage output of skills/Ash of War by 15%. |
|
|
The Bull-Goat's Talisman can be found in the Dragonburrow Cave in Caelid. This talisman is guarded by an angry Runebear. Equipping the Bull-Goat's Talisman increases your overall poise by 33%. |
Best Character Attribute Distribution For Horned Warrior Build
When it comes to Attribute distribution, players need to focus on Strength and Dexterity because both of the weapons scale from them. If you plan on using the Sword, put more points into Dexterity over Strength because of the C scaling. Players opting for the Greatsword can do the opposite and prioritize Strength. The weapon also has a scaling with Faith, but Faith only buffs up the damage of the weapon skills. You can leave Faith around 25 if you plan to use the always-useful Golden Vow Incantation — or lower it if you don't.
Players can Respec by interacting with Rennala at
Raya Lucaria Academy and offering her a
Larval Tear.

Best Buffs, Spells & Consumables For Horned Warrior Build
For the Horned Warrior Build to work, you must embody the spirit of the Horned Warriors further and get ahold of the Divine Bird Feathers Incantation. This Incantation is used quite a lot by the Divine Bird Warriors and does ramping damage as long as you hold down the cast input. The Erdtree Heal Incantation is also solid if you have enough points in Faith; you can rely on this Incantation to heal over the Flask of Crimson Tears. This allows you to bring more FP Flasks and heal the allies around you, including your Spirit Ash.
Golden Vow and Flame, Grant me Strength both increase your damage output and damage negation for a short duration, making them valuable choices for almost any build.
|
Incantation |
Description |
|---|---|
|
This Incantation is near the Church of the Bud in Rauh Ancient Ruins. Divine Bird Feathers shoots out wings at the cost of FP and proceeds until you run out of Stamina. |
|
|
You can find this Incantation near Queen's Bedchamber Site of Grace in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. Erdtree Heal vastly heals you and your allies and scales off Faith. |
|
|
Found on a corpse in the Corpse-Stench Shack on Mt. Gelmir. This Incantation increases your damage output by 15% and negates all damage by 10%. The buff lasts for 80 seconds. |
|
|
This is found behind Fort Gael, guarded by two flame chariots. This Incantation boosts your physical and fire damage output by 20%, and the buff lasts 30 seconds. |
When it comes to the Wondrous Flask of Physick, the Leaden Hardtear is the best choice purely because of the low Poise of the Armor Set. This, combined with the Bull-Goat Talisman, allows you to spam the Ash of War on the weapons without worrying about being interrupted. The second Crystal Tear should be Opaline Hardtear because this build is not that strong defensively and only has one defensive Talisman — it helps shore up this weakness.
|
Flask Tear |
Description |
|---|---|
|
This Crystal Tear drops from Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Mt. Gelmir. The tear boosts Poise for 10 seconds. |
|
|
Obtained upon killing Putrid Avatar near Fort Faroth in Caelid. The tear increases all damage negation types by 15% for 3 minutes. |

Dancing Blade of Ranah is a new Curved Sword, and here is how Elden Ring players can build around it in Shadow of the Erdtree.
Horned Warrior Build Playstyle Recommendation In Elden Ring
For the Horned Warrior Build to work perfectly, you must alternate between the tools you have and be unpredictable. This is especially useful against online players who invade you and know the move set of the weapons. With the help of the Talisman and Crystal Tear, you will have enough poise to tank through attacks while casting the Ash of War on the
Horned Warrior's Sword. The delayed horn eruption can confuse players and mess up their dodge timings.
The
Divine Bird Feathers Incantation does not deal great damage, but it is present in this build to poke enemies while they're at a distance, forcing them to close the distance (this Incantation takes out quite a lot of Stamina very quickly, so make sure you leave enough to dodge attacks). In close-range combat, you can rely on the Greatsword's Ash of War — or devastating jumping attacks — to finish off your enemies.
While you can opt to have both the Horned Warrior weapons equipped, it's typically best to focus on only one weapon and master it.
