A wannabe Elden Ring player was treated to a scavenger hunt in his own home. It was themed around the beloved action RPG, and marks one of several instances of Elden Ring fans being treated for their birthdays.

Developed by FromSoftware and featuring worldbuilding from George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame, Elden Ring was released just last year to critical acclaim for its open-world setting, gameplay, and arcade levels of difficulty, although slight criticism was directed at some of its performance issues at launch. Its premise involves a player-controlled Tarnished, who has recently been unexiled from the Lands Between, as they recover pieces of the shattered Elden Ring and take out the demigods corrupted by the fragments' power, in hopes of becoming the Elden Lord.

Reddit user meg0492 provided an update to an Elden Ring-themed scavenger hunt she set up around the interior of her house for her gamer husband to partake in for his birthday. Eleven images were shared in her post, including before and after shots of a homemade treasure chest she made. Post-Its were used to mark the clues for her husband to find, containing cryptic yet humorous phrases such as "Fort, Nite," "Dog Ahead," or "Try Finger But Hole," the latter of which was confirmed to be an idea suggested by a respondent to the previous post. Ultimately, the quest ends with a homemade treasure chest representing the ones in Elden Ring, containing a PlayStation 4 copy of the game and a Post-It that reads, "No Trap Ahead."

The comment section was just as wholesome as the very concept, with many fellow Redditors admitting to helping meg0492 set the treasure hunt up, namely by contributing the ideas for what hints should be included. Several got a laugh at some of the props used, while others were touched by some inclusions such as a plate of chewy cookies. Certainly a lot more lighthearted and lower-stakes than the quests found in Elden Ring, but nonetheless, meg0942 reports that her husband was very elated by his present.

Seeing fans of any video game show their devotion to it is always a fun sight, especially when they show off their creative sides in order to do it. Elden Ring players are no exception to this, and with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion coming out in the future, it should be interesting what creative exploits the fandom gets up to later on.

Elden Ring is available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
