The past few years have seen more and more Soulslike titles rise to popularity, but there’s nothing quite like a FromSoftware title. Whether it’s the Dark Souls games, the PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls, or its latest Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, FromSoftware created and defined this genre with its brutal approach to combat, emphasis on passive, environmental storytelling, and a nice touch of dark fantasy. As such, the months and years fans went without news on its upcoming title, Elden Ring, was excruciating.

Slowly but surely, more and more Elden Ring news is becoming available though. It’s likely to still keep a lot hidden until release, but the Closed Network test impressions were incredibly positive, the classes seem unique, and more is on the horizon. Now, at least for PlayStation fans, they know how much space they need for Elden Ring.

The PlayStation database was updated today, with the file size for Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring for PS5 being discovered. It should be noted that sometimes these database sizes and the console file size can differ, but for Elden Ring, the size makes a lot of sense. Without a day one patch, the PS5 file size of Elden Ring is 44.472 GBs.

Logically, the PS4 file size may be close to this, but there’s a huge degree of variance from platform to platform. Ergo, venturing a guess is likely to be inaccurate, and there could be huge differences for Elden Ring on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X too.

PS5 owners should also be glad to know that pre-loading for Elden Ring will begin on February 23, ahead of its February 25 launch. This doesn’t necessarily lockdown Elden Ring’s release date, as delays are always possible. However, it should be noted that Elden Ring has already been delayed once and it was just by about a month. That makes another delay, especially a drastic one, seem incredibly unlikely.

After all, after waiting through Elden Ring’ s silence for so long, fans are likely ready to finally play the game come February despite its competition that month. Elden Ring has already won 8 game awards already, which is a feat given the game hasn’t even been released yet. Whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but it is definitely one of the most anticipated games of 2022.

Elden Ring launches February 25, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
