An Elden Ring player has recreated Professor Garlick from Hogwarts Legacy in FromSoftware's open world game. Since launch, Elden Ring has been praised for its extensive character creation tools, allowing players to go all-out when creating their own Tarnished.
Sometimes Elden Ring players create original characters, but other times they take inspiration from existing characters and celebrities. These range from high profile characters like Rocky Balboa to deeper cuts like Old Gregg. A more recent custom Elden Ring character takes inspiration from the open world Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy by recreating one of the game's breakout characters.
Reddit user SoulfearicAcid has shared an image of a custom Professor Garlick character in Elden Ring. Professor Garlick, for the uninitiated, is the Herbology Professor in Hogwarts Legacy. Professor Garlick has proven to be one of Hogwarts Legacy's most popular characters, inspiring all kinds of fan art since the game's launch earlier this year. With Hogwarts Legacy and Elden Ring being two of the most popular open world games of the last few years, it's fitting to see one of Hogwarts Legacy's most popular characters show up in Elden Ring's Lands Between.
The popularity of Professor Garlick may mean that she is one of the most persistently popular characters to come out of Hogwarts Legacy, and it will be interesting to see if she returns in a potential sequel as a result. While Avalanche Software has not announced any plans about Hogwarts Legacy's future, fans are holding out hope for DLC or a full-blown Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The record-breaking sales of Hogwarts Legacy virtually guarantee that a sequel will materialize at some point down the line, but it's anyone's guess as to what all it will entail.
As far as Elden Ring goes, FromSoftware has kept fans engaged by adding new content to the open world game through substantial free updates. Now a paid DLC expansion is on the horizon called Shadow of the Erdtree. Details on what exactly the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will mean for Elden Ring will have to wait, but FromSoftware's track record speaks for itself and many fans will be happy to have more adventures in the Lands Between.
Moving forward, it's possible Elden Ring players will recreate even more characters from Hogwarts Legacy in the game. Alternatively, they may take inspiration from other popular open world titles, like the recently released Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom instead. Regardless, there should be no shortage of interesting fan creations in the months to come.
Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
