One Elden Ring player messed around with one of the game's enemies so much that they found out how it punishes them back. While there are many ways to easily defeat Elden Ring enemies, some players try unusual methods, often to hilarious effect.

Nearly two years after its release, the dark fantasy action RPG Elden Ring is still enjoying a lot of playtime from fans, who have come to explore as much of the lush and intricate world as possible while mastering its challenging gameplay. Fortunately, these devoted players will soon have some new content once its first expansion drops, likely sometime in 2024.

Redditor oldeluke posted some of their in-game footage in which they were at Castle Sol, hurling rocks at an enemy from a great distance. Perched on a high ledge, oldeluke was trolling a Banished Knight down below with the Stone of Gurranq incantation. After two successful hits, a knight suddenly appears beside their character, catching them unaware and attacking them. While this particular enemy does actually teleport, it's pretty unusual that it's able to do so from such huge distance. As a result, it does feel like the game punished oldeluke by unpredictably initiating combat.

This actually wasn't oldeluke's first post about trying to take down the Elden Ring Banished Knight from a distance, as they had been attempting to beat it with the long-range shot for days. The enemy simply continues to teleport all the way to their position and lay the smack down on them. They haven't posted any new updates about the attempts since, so it's also not clear whether they were successfully able to kill it from afar.

Other players confirmed that this was an incident that regularly happens at Castle Sol, with the Banished Knight being a frustrating enemy to kill because of its skillset. Some have even said that it's harder to beat than the infamous and challenging Elden Ring boss Malenia, and fans looking to complete a certain build have to go through farming it for its armor drops.

Elden Ring is set to get new content with the impending arrival of its first expansion DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, which could get an official update from developer FromSoftware pretty soon. After not getting even a single hint or tease from the recent The Game Awards 2023, fans may get the news many have been waiting for about the game's upcoming second anniversary in February 2024.
