Elden Ring's character creation tools have been used to recreate the famous meme character Old Gregg in the game. Elden Ring's character creator is known for being quite expansive, with players utilizing its robust tools to create all kinds of original characters as well as recreate popular fictional characters and historical figures.
Elden Ring's character creator has been used to make Tarnished versions of everyone from Rocky to Albert Einstein, with countless other characters created over the last year and a half as well. The freedom allowed by the Elden Ring character creation tools means players are only limited by their imagination, as proven by the fan who managed to create a spitting image of Old Gregg in the open world action-RPG.
Reddit user preemcuz recreated Old Gregg in Elden Ring and shared their creation online to the tune of over 8,500 upvotes. For those unfamiliar with the character, Old Gregg originated in the BBC comedy series The Mighty Boosh, but really rose to fame on YouTube. Old Gregg is a green-skinned creature that's not quite human who confronts a fisherman who dares to trespass on his "waters." One of Old Gregg's most famous lines is when he asks the fisherman, "You ever drunk Baileys from a shoe?"
Old Gregg is the kind of bizarre creature that would be right at home in FromSoftware's epic. Elden Ring's open world is packed full of strange creatures and unspeakable horrors. The vast majority of the creatures Elden Ring players come across are hostile and must be killed if one hopes to survive, though there are other characters that players can have conversations with throughout the game.
Some of the characters that Elden Ring players meet on their journeys may seem benevolent on the surface, but are actually hiding sinister intentions. Take Gatekeeper Gostoc at Stormveil Castle, for example. Gostoc seems helpful at first by leading players to a secret path through the castle, but he winds up stealing Elden Ring players' runes whenever they die, which makes leveling up a lot more difficult than it would be otherwise. Likewise, Old Gregg may seem somewhat friendly on the surface in that he wants the fisherman to love him and invites him over to "do some watercolors," but can also be heard saying, "I'm gonna hurt you" under his breath and actually has a dead man hanging on the wall in his cave.
FromSoftware's next game, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, may not necessarily offer the same level of character customization as Elden Ring does, but it will at least let players customize their mech suits. With Elden Ring setting the bar so high with its customization options, it will definitely be interesting to see what Armored Core 6 brings to the table later this year.
Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
