In Elden Ring Nightreign, you need to start almost from scratch each time you drop into the world to take on the Night. If you want to succeed against each of the Night Lords, you will need to properly arm yourself with the right tools.
Taking down Adel in Elden Ring Nightreign is much easier if you have access to both ice and poison weapons. To get them, you will need to know where they will appear on the map while you drop in and prepare for battle.
Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Show Tunnels on the Map
Mine Tunnels and underground areas can be confusing to navigate in Elden Ring Nightreign, but fortunately there's a way to show them on the map.
Where To Get Ice and Poison Weapons In Elden Ring Nightreign
As you fly into the arena, you need to look for Nightreign map markers that match up with the different types of weapons you want to find. If you are looking for an ice weapon, you will need to find the ice icon on the map, which looks like a sword outlined in glowing blue. Poison weapons can be found at poison icons on the map; those icons are green and have bubbles on them.
Once you arrive at the icon on the map, you need to defeat the Elden Ring mini-bosses or open a chest in that area in order to get the weapon type that the icon has promised. If there are no mini-bosses there and no treasure chests, you will most likely not get a weapon in that area. Instead, you might get a single-use throwing ice projectile. When you arrive at the chest or defeat the boss, you will get a few options of items you can pick; they can be upgrades or weapons, and it will be random which upgrades or weapon types you end up with.
Unlike with holy or fire weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign, ice and poison are not numbered stats that can be added to weapons. Therefore, ice or poison will come in the form of a weapon skill or status ailment that it inflicts. For example, the Icerind Hatchet is an axe that inflicts Frostbite and has Hoarfrost Stomp as a weapon skill. Another would be the Venomous Fang, which inflicts Poison on an enemy.
Other Sources of Ice and Poison Damage in Nightreign
If the map you have landed on is completely void of both the poison and ice icons, but you want to deal that kind of damage, you will need to find other sources. There are some consumables, spells, and relics that can take care of that for you. Relics in Elden Ring Nightreign need to be equipped before starting a round, but consumables and spells can be found out on the map. There are a handful of spells or incantations you can find that do cold or poison damage:
- Glintstone Icecrag
- Freezing Mist
- Frozen Armament
- Zamor Ice Storm
- Borealis's Mist
- Dragonice
- Adula's Moonblade
- Frozen Lightning Spear (may cause Frostbite)
- Ranni's Dark Moon (may cause Frostbite)
- Poison Armament
- Poison Mist
The items that do cold or poison damage are:
- Freezing pot
- Freezing grease
- Thawfrost Boluses
- Fetid Pot
- Poison Grease
- Poison Pot
- Poison Spraymist
- Poisonbone Dart
Why Is Poison Damage so Important When Fighting Adel Baron of Night?
There are some spoilers for the mechanics of the Adel fight below.
Poison is the perfect weapon to help take down Adel Baron of Night. This massive Elden Ring Nightreign Night Lord really hates poison; if you hit it a few times with poison weapons, it will make this massive monster pause for a few moments to vomit. As long as you avoid its mouth while it's throwing up the poison, you will be able to take a breath and get some hits in before it has a chance to recover.
