Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s biggest and most popular game to date, however, it does still retain the developer's famous focus on difficulty and boss fights. Elden Ring is an open world game, and this means that players are free to tackle the game's many challenges in any order. Players will still come across a few bottleneck areas while progressing through the Lands Between which act as a test of the player’s ability and check whether they are ready to proceed to the next area.

The design of this castle will be most players first glimpse at the kind of gothic architecture they can expect to see later in the game, as up until this point players will have likely only seen the luscious green forests of Limgrave, unless they have ventured eastward into the nightmarish Caelid. Stormveil Castle is a striking piece of dark fantasy design and has inspired countless Elden Ring fan artists to recreate its crumbling walls and fearsome bosses. Now a fan artist on Reddit named Daesu96 has recreated Elden Ring's Stormveil Castle in a manga art style.

The Reddit user captures this manga style through use of heavy black shadows mixed with extremely intricate detail. The piece is also in black and white, which is how most manga books are published. The most relevant manga this art has been compared to by the commenters under the Reddit users post, is Berserk. As a seminal dark fantasy series, Berserk’s influence can be found throughout many video games and other media.

However, perhaps no video game studio has been more heavily inspired by Berserk than FromSoftware. Elements from the Berserk manga are scattered throughout all of FromSoftware’s games, and Elden Ring is no exception. Berserk is known for its many distinct characters and monster designs, but another prevalent element of the manga series is its incredibly detailed full-page establishing shots. These pages often depict a grand gothic castle or a medieval cityscape, and Daesu96’s depiction of Stormveil Castle fits well among these Berserk panels.

It is no surprise to learn that the Reddit user was inspired by Berserk to make their fan art piece as there is a huge crossover between the fan bases for FromSoftware games and the manga series. When Kentaro Miura, the original creator of Berserk, died in 2021, Elden Ring fans flooded Reddit with appreciation posts for the influential creator.
