How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Elden Ring

You can use a blacksmith to upgrade your weapons. This is important because upgrading your weapons will help you in boss fights, especially early in the game. All players can upgrade their swords, shields, staffs, axes, and gears right from the beginning of the game.

Unfortunately, you cannot level up your armor. All the armor sets you find during your exploration will have the same parameters and cannot be upgraded. If you want to take less damage, upgrading your Shield is the best way to go.
