To obtain Formic Rock in Elden Ring, players need to find and kill Giant Ants. These creatures live deep underground, so you can find them in areas such as Deeproot Depths, Ainsel River, and Siofra River. Also, you can find some Formic Rock much earlier in the story by searching the corpse southeast of the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants area.
It is worth noting that the chance of getting Formic Rock after killing Giant Ants is relatively low, but here are some of the best routes that will allow you to farm the resource quickly:
- Take Deeproot Depths Site of Grace as a starting point and head south to kill some Giant Ants.
- You can also head east from Deeproot Depths and rest near the Great Waterfall Crest Site of Grace. Go northeast from this place, and you can get Formic Rock from a corpse or get some by killing the ants living nearby.
