Elden Ring has lots of side activities for players to complete that won't show clearly on a side quest menu. Throughout the world, there will be multiple Artist Shacks with large paintings that can be collected, with the player's goal being to find where the painting was done.

These paintings will usually be of major landmarks throughout the world, with some keen players able to track them down. The artists behind the paintings have long since passed away, but where they now lie is a reward for those able to find out where they once painted.

How To Solve The Homing Instinct Painting In Elden Ring

The Homing Instinct Painting is found in the Artist's Shack in the eastern section of Limgrave. After the painting is collected, players will be able to find it in the Maps section of their inventory to look at it whenever needed. This painting is a picture of a far-off church next to a lesser Erdtree and can be found in Limgrave.

Travel back to The First Step Site of Grace, summon torrent, and head east. Along the path east will be many destroyed arches like the one in the picture, and near the one connected arch, like the one in the picture, will be a small grave site. Behind the grave and facing the arch will be a ghost that briefly appears and points towards the far-off church, with it quickly fading away and leaving behind the Incantation Scarab.

The Incantation Scarab is a helmet that acts as a double-edged sword for spell casters. Unlike other helmets, the Incantation Scarab has a negative damage negation, meaning the player will take more damage when wearing this helmet, but does still offer resistance to status effects. Despite the increased damage received, this helmet does lower the FP cost of incantations.

The effectiveness of this helmet is heavily reliant on your build. If you're a fast character who focuses on dodging attacks entirely, the risk is worth the lower FP cost. If you're a tankier player who is okay with absorbing damage instead of avoiding it, the negative effects of this helmet will quickly outweigh the benefits. If you use many combat incantations and focus on fighting from a distance, this helmet is a worthwhile find and can be used to make the most out of your FP.
