Status effects are central to powerful PVP builds in Elden Ring. While some status effects are less common to face against enemies in the open world, they still might be used by other players to take advantage of a status effect many won't be prepared for.
There are some enemies that can apply sleep, but it isn't as common as all the other possible status effects. Because of this, many players take advantage of it in PVP and the effects will leave a player open to a critical hit. For those preparing to fight an enemy who utilizes sleep, it's best to have the right items and gear to combat or resist it.
Elden Ring: 17 Best Ashes Of War, Ranked
Ashes of War provide essential buffs for Elden Ring players, but some are more powerful and more useful than others.
How To Combat Sleep In Elden Ring
A player affected by sleep won't be able to move or cure themselves of the status effect and will lie there defenseless while the enemy scores a devastating critical hit. That being said, players can halt and eliminate any build-up of sleep by using a Stimulating Boluse. These are crafted using 1 Herba, 1 Cave Moss, and 1 Slumbering Egg. It's important to be proactive when using these and not try to get a large amount of build-up removed, as cutting it too close will often leave you being put to sleep.
This crafting recipe is from the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [16]. This cookbook is purchased from the Hermit Merchant found at Ainsel River in the ruins north of the Ainsel River Downstream Site Of Grace.
Elden Ring: 15 Hardest World Bosses, Ranked
Elden Ring certainly has its fair share of tough enemies, but these World Bosses are the most difficult of the bunch.
How To Resist Sleep In Elden Ring
A player's resistance to sleep is determined by their Focus stat. This resistance is increased whenever players level up their Mind stat and also helps resist Madness in Elden Ring. High Focus is often found in Mage armor, with heavier armor instead focusing on Robustness. Having a high Focus won't keep players from ever being afflicted by sleep, but instead will increase the amount of build-up required to succumb to sleep.
Players can also temporarily increase their Mind stat by using consumables such as Clarifying Cured Meat and Clarifying White Cured Meat. Both of these crafting recipes are found in the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [23], found in the Consecrated Snowfield in Elden Ring.
