Since its release nearly two months ago, Elden Ring has emerged as one of the best-selling titles of the year so far. Elden Ring has the most impressive sales figures when compared to previous FromSoftware titles like Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro, and also became the developer's biggest launch on Steam.
As it turns out, of the millions of Elden Ring gamers, a few are very talented artists. Numerous pieces of fan art have gone viral on the internet since the game was released, depicting some famous in-game characters. One Elden Ring player created a Sir Gideon Ofnir fan art, which shows the popular NPC surrounded by books.
Following the footsteps of these art enthusiasts, another Elden Ring player has shown their creative talent with some innovative fan art. This fan art includes one of the most famous bosses, Malenia, in a rather unorthodox and peculiar outfit. Reddit user Riisiwaanzz imagined Malenia in a futuristic setting rather than the fantasy world of Elden Ring. The user has wittily named their creation "Mechalenia," combining the words "mech" and "Malenia." The fan art shows Malenia in metallic armor and face mask, which gives her a more robotic look. Meanwhile, the art also shows Malenia wearing her signature winged helm and wielding the katana known as the Hand of Malenia.
Even though Malenia is an optional boss in Elden Ring, she is definitely among the most popular and toughest to beat. Like several other Elden Ring characters, Malenia also has a tragic backstory, having been afflicted by Scarlet Rot since birth which causes her to use prosthetic limbs. Despite this vast popularity, many Elden Ring fans are unaware of Malenia's secrets, including her Scarlet Rot affliction and the mysterious circumstances of her birth.
While the majority of the Reddit community praised Riisiwaanzz's fan art, some compared the art to Gundam. Gundam are giant robots from the Japanese media franchise of the same name, including several TV series, mangas, video games, etc. While the Reddit user didn't intentionally create the art similar to Gundam, the gaming community could surprise everyone with such artwork in the future.
Elden Ring gamers are notoriously famous for combining Elden Ring with other fictional universes in their fan art. Many of them went viral and received widespread acclaim, including a combination of Malenia and Princess Zelda, a depiction of Kirby in Elden Ring armor, and a portrayal of Thor and Mohg.
