Elden Ring has some of the most memorable bosses in modern gaming, and they almost always provide a great sense of accomplishment when those enemies are finally defeated. There are bosses that are used to gauge the player's skills, such as the Tree Sentinel at the beginning of the game. There are also strong, recurring boss battles, like multiple fights with the Fallingstar Beast, and a very unlucky player found that Elden Ring is simply relentless when it comes to taking them all down in a video posted to Reddit.
The Fallingstar Beast is a recurring boss in Elden Ring, and it is capable of decimating players' health pools to zero quickly with rush attacks, gravity magic that surrounds the beast itself, a magic beam and a deadly attack: a piercing grab that deals an extreme amount of damage and cannot be blocked. After a long battle with this creature, victory was in sight for one player, but the fight ended in tragedy for the Tarnished.
A user by the name of "Piresti" posted their misfortune for all to see. In the video, the player is fighting with two swords and seems to have control over the fight. The player dodges the beast's complex series of attacks and counters when appropriately, and it seems like victory is ensured. Unfortunately, just a sliver of health remained on the Fallingstar Beast, before the boss was able to initiate its piercing grab attack and kill the player and throw them off a nearby cliff. While death is common in Elden Ring, this one stings just a bit worse than most, as one more hit from the player would have been enough to defeat the boss.
The video highlights how unforgiving Elden Ring can be and also how common this situation actually occurs when players get slightly too greedy in their quest to defeat bosses. The player could have used a throwable item, backed off and waited out the creature's gravity attack, or have just played less aggressively. But this post also shows the great humor and sense of adventure and fun that Elden Ring community have gotten to experience since the game's release back in February. Sometimes, death in Elden Ring can be hilarious, even if it sets back players' progress, like this one, but as some Reddit users have replied: it happens to most players.
Being greedy in Elden Ring can often result in death and frustration, but when it happens like this, it's hard to not just sit back and laugh and refocus for the next battle. This clip is entertaining because it highlights how quickly things can go wrong in Elden Ring, but also how the community members takes pride in their ability to pick up, dust off, and continue on their journeys to become Elden Lord.
Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
