An Elden Ring fan recently took to the internet to share a clip in which an enemy leaps up an elevator shaft before killing them instantly with a surprising attack. The clip in question takes place in one of the many different mines located around the map, where players can go to gather smithing stones to upgrade various weapons they acquire. Towards the end of the video, the Elden Ring player gets attacked in a surprising way that kills him instantly.

Elden Ring has been out since February 2022, and features a vast open world for players to explore either alone or with friends via cooperative play. Scattered around Elden Ring are numerous caves and tunnels filled with resources that can aid the player in their journey. Within these various areas are miners, a weaker enemy that for the most part isn't too dangerous. One player shared a clip to Reddit of their encounter with one of these miners, showcasing a surprising attack from an otherwise unassuming enemy.

In the clip, Reddit user Fun-Employment-5681 can be seen running through one of Elden Ring's caves and avoiding the various miners located within. One persistent miner gives chase to the player, before Fun-Employment-5681 sidesteps him and leads him onto an elevator. As the elevator is halfway down the miner shockingly jumps back up the elevator shaft to deliver a surprise attack that kills the Elden Ring player in one hit.

While Elden Ring is widely known for its difficulty, much like any FromSoftware title, it's quite uncommon for a death like Fun-Employment-5681's to take place. The enemy seemingly defies gravity to launch upwards before immediately starting his attack. There isn't much warning, unlike with other difficult Elden Ring enemies and bosses, and the player didn't really have the time to react. The miner enemies in particular aren't very imposing and rarely pose a challenge to most players, causing fans to simply run past them like Fun-Employment-5681 does in the clip. While this tactic usually works, this Reddit post shows that even the most unassuming of enemies can pull a surprising attack from anywhere to kill Elden Ring fans.

Elden Ring has been out for over a year now, and still manages to find ways to surprise players during its intense combat. Whether it be a surprise attack from an elevator halfway down the shaft, or an incredibly hard to dodge attack like Malenia's waterfowl dance, the combat within Elden Ring continues to challenge players and force them to improve or die trying.

Elden Ring is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
