Summary

  • Elden Ring fans request the ability to replay bosses in Colosseums, similar to Dark Souls 2's Bonfire Ascetic feature.
  • Currently, the only way to replay bosses in Elden Ring is through a new playthrough or New Game Plus, which has limitations.
  • Some fans suggest that the Colosseum should allow boss replays without rewards, as long as it's an option for the community.

An Elden Ring fan makes a plea to FromSoftware to add the ability to replay bosses in the game's Colosseum, a feature that the community has been requesting for a long time. The ability to replay boss battles has only existed in Dark Souls 2, and fans are hoping that they will be able to get the feature through Elden Ring's Colosseums.

The ability to replay bosses has been one of the most requested features in Elden Ring by far. One player had accidentally come across a weird bug that allowed them to replay the Dragonlord Placidusax boss fight in Elden Ring. The only way players can replay bosses right now in Elden Ring is by starting a new playthrough or New Game Plus, both of which impose certain restrictions on the player.

In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit user Hexent_Armana reveals one last plea they have for FromSoftware. The user adds that the Colosseum should add the ability to replay bosses. They go on to add that the battles need not necessarily drop the regular loot and other minor but useful items such as Larval Tear in Elden Ring would be fine as well. Other fans in the community echoed similar sentiments, with some taking it a step further by stating that the feature would be appreciated even if there were no rewards associated with it at all.

Fans Recall Dark Souls 2's Underappreciated Feature

Veteran fans of the Soulsborne genre were quick to recall that the feature existed in one of the extremely divisive Dark Souls 2. Bonfire Ascetics was quite a unique mechanic in Dark Souls 2, allowing players to reset the entire area around a bonfire, at the cost of increasing the level of the game by one. This means that on the first playthrough using the Bonfire Ascetic would take players to NG+. While the effects are irreversible, it gave players a chance to fight bosses again, and it is one of the many new features Dark Souls 2 added but the genre didn't take forward.

In fact, Sekiro: Shadows Twice also has a similar mechanic in place. Whether Sekiro: Shadows Twice is a part of the Soulsborne genre is a topic for another day, but the Reflection of Strength feature allows one to replay the major bosses in the game. While adding the feature for all Elden Ring bosses might be a bit too much, many state that they are fine with a Remembrance boss rush as well.
