A new mod has added Bill Clinton to FromSoftware's open world epic Elden Ring as a playable character. Elden Ring was recently honored at The Game Awards 2022, where it took home the Game of the Year award along with some other prizes. But while many fans are buzzing about Elden Ring being crowned Game of the Year, a bizarre moment at the end of The Game Awards has been getting a lot of attention as well.Right after Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki finished his acceptance speech for Elden Ring's Game of the Year win, someone snuck on stage, went up to the microphone, and "nominated" the award for former US president Bill Clinton. This strange moment instantly became a widespread internet meme. Modders, inspired by the incident, wasted no time creating a mod for Elden Ring to add Bill Clinton to the game. Modder Arestame shared a clip of their Bill Clinton Elden Ring mod, showing the 42nd president running around the Lands Between with a club. Bill Clinton explores a bit before getting into a fight, but unfortunately, he's no match for the enemy he comes across. Clinton ultimately dies, though the final clip of the video appears to show him waking up in the game's tutorial area, though it's possible it's another area entirely. The mod is not currently available for download, but the video of it in action has generated quite a bit of interest, amassing over 89,000 likes at the time of this writing.
Elden Ring mods have been all the rage since the game first launched, with modders replacing character models and making other major changes to the game. Some Elden Ring mods improve the game's performance, whereas others do bizarre things like make players have to fight five bosses at once or add Thomas the Tank Engine to the game. Thanks to Elden Ring's persistent popularity, it's likely that even more mods will be made for the game in the years ahead.
As far as official content goes, there may be even more for Elden Ring fans to look forward to on that front as well. A recent update opened Elden Ring's colosseums to give players more PvP options, and Miyazaki has hinted that the development team is not done with the game quite yet. Whether that means fans can look forward to a full-blown Elden Ring DLC expansion as has been rumored is unclear, but hopefully more information on that front comes sooner rather than later.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
