Summary
- Arrow's Reach Talisman in Elden Ring has hidden bonuses beyond extending the range of bows, including mitigating damage fall-off for projectiles, such as arrows and bolts.
- The Talisman's effects apply to a wide variety of ranged weapon attacks, including spells, thrown items, and incantations in Elden Ring.
- Arrow's Reach is one of the best Talismans for builds specializing in ranged attacks, making it useful in both PvE and PvP situations, whereas Arrow's Sting is less effective and only affects arrows and bolt projectiles.
One of Elden Ring’s Talismans can be easy to overlook, although it turns out to have some surprisingly powerful hidden effects. Because many players might dismiss Arrow’s Reach for only being useful for bow or crossbow builds in Elden Ring, many players are potentially missing out on buffs that help plenty of other weapons as well.
Arrow's Reach Talisman can be found very early in Elden Ring inside a chest in a tower located near the Stormhill Evergaol in Limgrave. To reach this tower, players must progress from the Site of Grace either at Stormhill Shack or Gatefront Ruins until they can climb the hill on the Southwest side of the path and circle back to the Stormgate from on top of this hill. The chest with the Talisman is just inside the tower at the Northeastern edge of the hill with only a few guards protecting the area.
Elden Ring’s Arrow’s Reach Talisman Has Some Powerful Unintended Effects
The description for the Arrow's Reach Talisman in Elden Ring claims to boost the effective range of bow weapons. However, it has several additional hidden bonuses that seem unintended. The first thing to note about this Talisman is that the range boost provides more than just an extended flight path for arrows and bolts. It actually helps to mitigate a significant amount of the damage fall-off for using bow weapons in Elden Ring, so it not only helps projectiles to travel farther, but it ensures that these projectiles will still do a worthwhile amount of damage against distant targets.
The most important feature of this Talisman though is that it applies to a wide variety of projectiles beyond just bolts and arrows. More specifically, the Arrow's Reach Talisman applies to most ranged weapon attacks, including Ashes of War, thrown items, Spells, and Incantations in Elden Ring. It's worth testing for each individual weapon that players plan to use, but chances are that if it's a ranged attack then this Talisman will affect it to some degree. Knowing this can make a huge difference for players who use ranged attacks, and given how uncommon bow builds are compared to other builds in Elden Ring, many players have likely disregarded this Talisman for something that seemed more useful.
Consequently, Arrow’s Reach is arguably one of the best Talismans in Elden Ring for builds that specialize in ranged attacks, regardless of what kind of weaponry they use, at least for the most part. Some of the best weapons and spells to combine with this Talisman are the Jar Cannon, and/or the Ambush Shard Sorcery. The Jar Cannon is infamous for its ability to deal massive damage at an impressive range. What the Ambush Shard Sorcery lacks in damage it makes up for with its special projectile path that attacks an enemy from behind, making it great for targets equipped with shields.
This Talisman is especially useful against enemies in Elden Ring’s open-world environments, though it also has plenty of potential in PvP. The damage fall-off mitigation may not always be practical to utilize in Elden Ring’s PvP, but this Talisman can still catch other players off guard with extended or otherwise abnormal ranges for certain attacks.
Given all the effects of the Arrow’s Reach Talisman, it’s easily one of the best Talismans for builds with ranged attacks. The other Talisman dedicated to ranged-weapon builds, Arrow's Sting, is far less effective because it only affects arrows and bolt projectiles. Also, the damage boost that Arrow’s Sting provides doesn't factor in the stats of the bow weapon, so this Talisman results in only a minor increase of the arrow or bolt's base damage.
Although, since both Talismans can be equipped simultaneously it's not necessary to compare them in such a polarizing way. Regardless, the Arrow's Reach Talisman is surprisingly powerful and players who use ranged-weapon builds should consider how it can optimize these types of weapon builds in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
