Thanks to the PC port of Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut, gamers who don’t own a Sony console can finally get their hands on this beautiful game. Jin Sakai’s story will take them across the three sections of Tsushima island, but unless players get on their horse and explore the island, they'll likely miss many secrets, quests, charms, locations, and power-ups that aren’t mandatory to the story but make the experience much more complete.

15 Best Charms In Ghost Of Tsushima (& Where To Find Them)

Ghost of Tsushima has no shortage of charms available, but these stand out as the game's best.

There’s a reason why Sucker Punch included a photo mode in this game, and while the graphics are good throughout the game, they really shine in these specific, easily missed, hidden locations which players never go to during the main quests.

8 Grove In Ruins Of Old Yarikawa

Life Inside Ruins

Before players even reach the grove, everything in the Ruins of Old Yarikawa will point them in its direction. Surrounded by dilapidated buildings hidden in overgrown vegetation, the grove stands out as a sore thumb due to its lush, flowery ground populated by green fireflies. It is decorated with statues at the entrance and the back and has a certain glow to it under the moonlight that will instantly make gamers think this place is important.

How To Reach This Location

The Quest “The Spirit of Yarikawa’s Vengence” concludes in this grove inside Old Yarikawa in Toyotama. After a showdown with Spirit of Yarikawa, players will learn the Dance of Wrath ability.

7 Yuriko’s Grave

Farewell, Old Guardian

Jin bowing to Yuriko's grave during a sunset

Yuriko’s grave overlooks almost the entire south section of the Toyotama region to as far as the Izuhara region. And there couldn’t possibly be a better resting place for someone as close to Jin as Yuriko was. In her final moments, Yuriko reminisces about her old memories as Jin’s caretaker and her affair with Kazumasa Sakai, Jin’s father. But before their conversation could conclude, she passed away.

Jin buries her with his own hands, and when he bows in front of her grave, a gust of wind raises a flurry of lilac flower petals, making this location even more surreal.

How To Reach This Location

During the “Ghosts from the Past” main questline, Jin will meet Yuriko, his old caretaker, and after the quest, players can complete her side quests. At the end of her last quest, “The Art of Seeing”, Yuriko takes her final breath and Jin buries her on a cliff southeast of the Turtle Rock Shrine in the Toyotama region.

6 Hidden Altar In Kechi Fishing Village

Fly Little Fishes

The altar in Kechi Villages is one of the more elusive altars in the game, mainly owing to its more accessible location. Players don’t need to do a bunch of quests or find uncover any hidden section in the map to access it, which is why nobody expected a measly fishing village to house it.

When Jin bows to the altar, a small school of fish will jump out of the water in the river next to the player to greet him. Ghost of Tsushima loves to add small, subtle touches of peacefulness and rewards players when they take a moment to slow down and take a breath. This is one of those moments, and before activating the alter, make sure to keep the photo mode ready for a quick snapshot.

How To Reach This Location

Kechi Fishing Village is located right next to the river in the northeastern section of the Izuhara region. The village will be occupied by the Mongols and Jin will have to liberate it before accessing the altar.

5 Kijo Isle

Please Rescue My Daughter

Without any fighting training or any skill in wielding a sword, players can find Otosuke on Kijo Isle, slashing away at a tameshigiri, fueled only by hatred and a strong sense of fatherhood.

Jin won’t find anything of importance on Kijo Island other than a few supplies to collect and Otosuke, who gives him the side quest "Lost at Sea" to help him rescue his daughter from the Mongol ships in the distance. Still, this small island is beautiful in its own, isolated way.

How To Reach This Location

At the very south of the Izuhara region, and slightly to the west, players can find Kijo Island on the map and can reach it after a short swim.

4 Cave In The Omi Monastery

Battle In Candlelight

Omi Monastery is one of the prettiest locations in the entire game, and hidden within this monastery is a small cave with a big monk statue and a water-flooded floor with small, lit candles populating its surface.

While players can access the cave and witness its beauty at any point in the game, they’re led to it at the end of the “Six Blades of Kojiro” side quest. The final battle with the last straw hat takes place inside this cave and is nothing short of picturesque.

How To Reach This Location

Omi Monastery is located southwest of Mount Omi and Omi Lake in the Toyotama region. To access the cave, go up the path next to the mountain face with small waterfalls and squeeze through the opening in the rock.

3 Samurai Holdings Near Komoda Beach

For Tsushima

the location of samurai holdings with ramparts and dead bodies surrounding it

The very first opening cutscene when players start a new game in Ghost of Tsushima takes place in these holdings. From here, Jin rides out to Komoda Beach where the Samurai of Tsushima, led by Lord Shimura, suffered a major loss to the Mongols under Khotun Khan.

Back then, these holdings were filled with samurai banners, torches, and fighting equipment, and populated by hundreds of samurai. But when Jin returns here during mid-game, the holdings are empty and littered with dead samurai, which is a grave reminder of how big the threat of the Mongols is.

How To Reach This Location

Go directly east from Kiyomori’s Landing, and south and slightly east from Saicho’s Point to reach the Samurai Holdings during the Battle of Komoda Beach.

2 Tadayori’s Rest

Follow The Violet Flowers

a field of lilac flowers with an altar at its entrance

Arguably one of the most serene locations in all of Tsushima, Tadayori’s Rest is dedicated to the legendary archer, Tadayori, and is where he was buried. Jin can come here on travels directly, or be led here by following a trial of Violet Flowers during “The Legend of Tadayori” mythic tale.

When players reach Tadayori’s Rest during the mythic tale, they’ll have to fight against Kaede, Tadayori’s last living descendent, who is trying to protect her ancestor’s armor, one of the best armors in the entire game, from any who might intend to use it for personal gains.

How To Reach This Location

Players can find Tadayori’s rest in Ariake Prefecture in the Izuhara region of Tsushima.

1 Desecrated Inari Shrine

May The Slain Find Peace

Tsushima is filled with Inari Shrines or Fox Dens which grant Jin minor charms upon completion. This specific shrine in Toyotama was the target of Mongol contempt; the shrine is destroyed when a player finds it with slain foxes surrounding it.

This is the starting point for the “Peace for the Divine” side quest. A fox will lead Jin to the Mongols who committed this heinous act who players can kill with as much or as little hostility as they like. This desecrated shrine stands as yet another remnant of the destruction the Mongols brought to Tsushima with them.

How To Reach This Location

Head south from the Old Toyotama Hills in the Toyotama region and the desecrated Inari Shrine will be marked by smoke coming from its location.
