F1 25's Changes To My Team And Careers Explained

Driver Ownership Changes

F1 25 will be more realistic than prior titles in the franchise due to some key changes to the My Team experience, as fans will now take on the Owner role, rather than the Owner Driver role. This means that the player will have to manage the careers of two drivers, whereas previous games allowed one of the two drivers to fall by the wayside, and will have to make more complex decisions regarding the competing interests of the two drivers. In addition, a new Owner Perks system will allow fans to specialize in one of three avenues (Engineering, Corporate, or Personnel) to better embody the type of manager they want to be.

The upcoming F1 25 will also introduce new Fan Rating and Contract systems. As managers, players will need to watch out for how fans perceive their team and will need to manage the perception of drivers towards the team during contract negotiations. Further, players will be able to access the new Team HQ environment, which can be customized in accordance with the player's choices throughout the mode. A new Facilities improvements system will offer new and more granular upgrade decisions, as well as sway over workforce size and a new cast of Facility Heads.

Updated R&D And Sponsor Systems

This latest version of F1's My Team mode will also add a spin on sponsor and R&D systems. Research and Development will be split into one system each, with Development expanded out into a more unique system. Upgrades have to be developed into physical parts, and the player will have to decide how an upgrade is developed—and which driver gets an upgrade if one upgrade fails. This ties into other systems, including those that govern how drivers perceive the player's ownership style.

Sponsorships will also see new flair in EA Sports' F1 25. Fans will be able to build relationships with their sponsors over time, and will be able to interact with yet another system in the form of Sponsor Loyalty. Moreover, new backgrounds/core beliefs tied to sponsors will trigger new types of event. Building a strong relationship with a sponsor will also unlock new cosmetic options over time.

Adjacent to these changes are some tweaks to driver Icons. F1 25 will bring in fictional drivers, F3 drivers, Esports drivers, and more to the mix, and players will be able to enable or disable all these new Icons on AI teams, which can now recruit Icons for the first time. Players can also add an eleventh team to the grid in the form of Braking Point's Konnersport.
