This could be calling a play that exploits a weakness, surprising the defense with a rush instead of a pass, or anything in between. And in EA Sports College Football 25, players have much more options to choose from on the offensive front.

One of the best ways to fake out an opponent during a game is to run an RPO play, or run-pass option, which will allow you to observe what the defense is doing, before choosing the best way to advance down the field. This will either be through a run or a pass to the receiver, and knowing the value of such plays will enable your offense to be much more fluid. How To Run RPO in College Football 25

In essence, an RPO play takes the rushing offense as the default, giving players a limited window of time to choose the pass if there is the opportunity of a receiver getting clear of the coverage. Once the play is in motion, there will be a snap decision to be made as the quarterback receives the snap.

Depending on the particular RPO play that you call, take note of the various routes that will be your additional choices. From there, players will either hand the ball off for a run, or execute a quick pass to the receivers. To execute the latter, you will need to hold down the button representing the particular receiver you want to pass to before the hand-off happens. There is still a need to watch your power and accuracy, so be careful of such passes becoming easy interceptions for the defense.

While that is the basis of the RPO play, there are also different variants that players should take note of.

RPO Read Plays

For RPO plays in College Football 25 that have Read in them, it allows players to either hand the ball off to the running back, keep the ball with the quarterback to run, or to keep it and pass. Doing nothing else will see the running back grab hold of the ball, while holding down the X/A button will let the QB keep it to assess the situation.

RPO Glance Plays

The Glance plays function quite similarly to Read plays, but with the caveat that pocket protection is much more present for the quarterback. To keep the ball with the QB, remember to hold down the X/A button, otherwise, it will still be a running game on the ground.

RPO Walk Plays

Lastly, for Walk RPO plays, the quarterback will take a longer time to hand off the ball to the running back, giving you an extended period in which to make the final decision. Of course, this means that the defense is also closing in, so be sure to check your surroundings as quickly as you can. Again, to keep it with the quarterback, hold down the X/A button as the snap happens, so you can choose to scramble or pass with more movement.
