Even before his big-screen revival in the MCU brought him increased mainstream exposure, Iron Man was a recurring fixture in comic-based video games like the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and it was only a matter of time before the armored Avenger got a triple-A title of his own. Sure enough, EA announced an Iron Man game from Motive Studios, the developer behind 2023’s Dead Space remake, in the fall of 2022.

Since then, there haven’t been too many official details from EA about its Iron Man video game, aside from it being a third-person action-adventure title being built with Unreal Engine 5. There are also plenty of rumors of the Iron Man game being an open-world title that could make great use of Tony Stark’s rocket-powered flight abilities and other skills. Indeed, flying is expected to be a key component of EA’s Iron Man title, and with that comes the question of how the game will handle exploration.

A new job listing from EA and Motive Studios might offer a clue, as pointed out by Reddit user OwnEquivalent4108 on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours. This listing calls for a Level Designer who would be tasked with creating “extremely fun, satisfying game levels” that align with Motive’s vision for its Iron Man game. Another section of the listing notes that the candidate would have to “design and build major single-player levels,” and that one of the job’s qualifications is experience in designing and playing action RPGs.

This reference to RPGs could be a sign that Motive’s Iron Man game could have some sort of character customization or leveling system, which would line up perfectly with how Tony Stark is always adjusting and upgrading his armor in the comics and movies. As for level design, it still isn’t clear if the Iron Man title will be a full-on open-world game or feature semi-open environments like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

As noted before, fans have heard very little about EA’s upcoming Iron Man game since its official announcement almost three years ago.
