EA has confirmed yet another game it is shutting down in 2026, bringing the total to six so far. EA keeps a running list of games it is shutting down, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. On the one hand, it's nice that EA fans know in advance whenever a game's servers are being shut down so they have time to play it before it loses some of its features forever (or with some games, completely cease to exist). On the other hand, it's a bummer that games are shut down at all, especially at high enough frequency that keeping a running list is even needed.
2026 has just started and EA has wasted little time shutting down games. Anthem servers were shuttered on January 12, and while there may be some fan efforts to revive it, the live-service BioWare game is officially dead. Then, on January 24, EA shut down The Sims Mobile. And finally, NBA Live 19 was shut down on January 30. Now yet another EA-published game has a confirmed shutdown date, and fans should mark their calendars accordingly.
Best EA Games
No one knows controversy like Electronic Arts, but they've still made some great video games. Here are their best ones.
As confirmed by EA, Madden NFL 23 servers are shutting down on July 13. From that point forward, Madden NFL 23's online features will be completely inaccessible, making it impossible to fully enjoy the game and unlock all its achievements/trophies. While it's safe to say that the vast majority of Madden NFL fans have long moved on to later entries in the series, the shutdown will still have an impact on some players, especially those on a budget that buy older games. Regardless, anyone interested in playing Madden NFL 23 to its full extent will have until July 13 to do so.
List of EA Games Shutting Down in 2026
- Anthem - January 12
- The Sims Mobile - January 24
- NBA Live 19 - January 30
- Real Racing 3 - March 19
- Madden NFL 23 - July 13
- Apex Legends (Switch) - August 4
Madden NFL 23 isn't the only EA game shutdown on the horizon. It was also confirmed that Real Racing 3 is shutting down on March 19. The Real Racing 3 shutdown caused a bit of an uproar when it was first announced, as the game has been out for over a decade and has a following of dedicated fans that will be devastated to see it go. Unfortunately, if you don't already have Real Racing 3 downloaded on your iOS or Android device, you are out of luck, as the game was delisted in December 2025 ahead of its March 19 server shutdown.
And finally, the last EA game confirmed to be shutting down in 2026 so far is the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends. Apex Legends was a wildly popular battle royale game when it was first released, and so it made sense to bring it to a platform like the Nintendo Switch, which has a massive install base. Unfortunately, the Switch simply wasn't powerful enough to properly run Apex Legends, and so serious technical issues kept that version of the game from ever really taking off. Apex Legends will continue to be available on other platforms, but anyone playing it on the Nintendo Switch will have to get their fill by August 4.
EA fans may also want to note that while its servers are remaining online for the time being, Madden NFL 24 is leaving EA Play Pro and EA Play on February 17. If you are subscribed to EA Play or have access to it through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and want to play Madden NFL 24, the clock is ticking.
