One of the best things an RPG can include is a post-game. Some players don't want an adventure to end no matter if the game is ten hours or a hundred. Dynasty Warriors: Origins has a post-game with some pretty incredible mechanics that unlock from weapon crafting to a mission-select screen.

Aside from The Wanderer, players will also get to hop into the shoes of these Dynasty Warriors: Origins characters for a short while.

For those who want to get the most out of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, they should keep playing after their first playthrough. Here's a quick guide on the best things players can do with the rest of their time. There will be no spoilers, so it's safe to browse ahead for those still curious.

6 Fight Lu Bu

Gain An Ally And Play With The Halberd

Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Lu Bu is one of the strongest characters in the Dynasty Warriors series. In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, he’s an antagonist in most scenarios but can become an ally in the post-game. Players need to beat the game once and then a side quest will open up.

Players can face Lu Bu and eventually get his weapon type, the Halberd, the secret tenth weapon type in the game. It’s a bit unwieldy to use but it’s still worth investing time in if only to talk to Lu Bu more. It’s hard not to be impressed by this warrior as power seemingly emanates from his body.

5 Join Other Factions

Branch The Timelines

The timeline in Dynasty Warriors Origins

There are three factions to choose in Dynasty Warriors: Origins between following Liu Bei, Cao Cao, or Sun Ce. No matter who players choose, a new mechanic will open up at inns once players load their post-game file. Players can use the new timeline to follow the two factions they didn’t choose.

The Wanderer can get to know a few interesting characters in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Here's which bonds are the most rewarding.

This will be an interesting way to see different perspectives on the same missions but players will also get brand new stories and characters. There are even moments in missions with branching timelines like Sun Jian can be saved but it’s a lot easier in a second playthrough of his “final” mission. Thanks to levels carrying over, these multiple playthroughs won’t take as long as players should be a bit overpowered.

4 Replay Old Battles With New Allies

The Companion List Broadens

The timeline can be used for quick skirmishes too akin to past entries in the Dynasty Warriors series which were more mission-based. If players have gone through a mission once, they can replay it without diving into a new timeline. There are a lot of reasons to replay missions from leveling up to just experiencing favorites.

Unlocked missions also give players more companions to play with and sometimes they don’t make sense like players could used Sun Shangxiang in a Cao Cao mission. Companions are swappable characters in Dynasty Warriors: Origins that act like power-ups. They can be played briefly before gameplay resumes with the main hero, The Wanderer, and it’s a neat way to get a glimpse at the older games in the series.

3 Reforging Weapons

The Loot Drops Increase

Reforging weapons in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a very loot-heavy game as players can pick up random weapons on the battlefield with a wide range of attributes. In the post-game, players can use two of the same weapons and reforge them. They can choose to raise stats like pure attack power or they can swap abilities around.

It’s astounding that a new mechanic like this is hiding in the post-game because some type of forging-based gameplay has been present in many Musou games. There is also a new tier of weapon, Epic, which is extremely expensive to buy and even harder to find on the battlefield. If players are inclined though, they can try to make the ultimate weapon one mission at a time.

2 Unlock New Weapon Levels

Become The God Of War

Leveling up in Dynasty Warriors Origins

There are nine weapons types in Dynasty Warriors: Origins followed by the aforementioned secret tenth type, Halberds. As players use these weapons they will level up in proficiency and in turn level up the hero. Players can max these levels out during their first run, but new levels will be unlocked in the post-game.

Kill enemies, get skill points, and become an Army of One in Dynasty Warriors Origins.

Nothing radically new will be added to level bonuses besides stat boosts but it gives players an extra incentive to play with these weapon types again. To become the ultimate god of war in Chinese history, players need to max out their character and forge the ultimate weapon. It’s not necessary but some RPG fans dig maxing out stats in every way possible.

1 Bring Peace To The Provinces

Unlock Rare Gear

Exploring the world map in Dynasty Warriors Origins

There are a lot of side quest types in Dynasty Warriors: Origins and finishing them all could be a post-game goal. Two of the hardest ones to finish involve individual provinces of China and the Old Coins. First, players can find Old Coins on the world map or get them as rewards in other side quests.

They can be used to unlock various items in Dynasty Warriors: Origins like accessories, with the Bond-based shopkeepers of Sima Hui or Pang Tong. Fighting battles, both side and main will raise a bar in each province. Once a tier of peace is achieved, players can collect prizes at fast travel locations. It takes a long time to bring peace to these areas but to get some of the best gear in the game, players will have to try.
