Dynasty Warriors: Origins has sold more than one million copies worldwide since its well-received launch on January 17, 2025, across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ever since its inception in 1997, the Dynasty Warriors IP has adapted the Chinese novel known as Romance of the Three Kingdoms in various distinct ways. The latest game in the franchise, which succeeds 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9, also does the same but only focuses on the first-half of the 14th-century tale. Upon its release, Dynasty Warriors: Origins earned critical praise and generated remarkable sales, especially in Japan. Thanks to such a promising start, the game has now managed to cross a key commercial milestone in a short period of time.

Impressively, this confirmation comes just around 28 days post the arrival of the Dynasty Warriors reboot across platforms. Further, the Japanese gaming giant also shared that the downloads of the Omega Force-developed game have crossed the two million mark, hinting at the strong interest among players in trying out the newly released action title.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Sales Achievement Comes During an Interesting Time for Series Fans
The newest bit of Dynasty Warriors update further sweetens what has been an exciting period of activity for ardent fans. In a surprising move, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force came together again recently and shadow-dropped a new Dynasty Warriors spin-off, titled Warriors: Abyss, on February 13, 2025. The latest addition to the franchise's long list of spin-offs is a roguelike take on the IP and is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
Notably, this busy period for Dynasty Warriors also coincides with the announcement of a scheduled change of leadership at Koei Tecmo. Starting from April 1, Hisashi Koinuma will begin his tenure as the new president and CEO of Koei Tecmo Holdings, having been earmarked to replace the outgoing Yōichi Erikawa. With the publisher expected to ship out more major releases in 2025, such as Rise of the Ronin's PC port and Ninja Gaiden 4, it looks set to be a crucial first year for Koinuma as the president-CEO.
