Summary
- Persona 3 innovated the series with social aspects; Dynasty Warriors: Origins follows suit.
- Characters like Yuanhua, Yueying, and Han Dang offer unique storylines and interactions.
- Liu Bei's noble leadership and Zhou Cang's transformation add depth to bonding experiences.
Persona 3 is the game that changed everything in the series because it unlocked the social aspects. Players could befriend party members and NPCs to deepen their relationships and collect rewards. Many games have borrowed this mechanic and Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the latest example. Unlike most other Musou games, players will primarily control one character, The Wanderer.
8 Beginner Tips For Dynasty Warriors: Origins
For newcomers to the Dynasty Warriors series, or those struggling with the gameplay changes to Dynasty Warriors: Origins, these beginner tips can help
The Wanderer can befriend classic heroes in the franchise and bond with them in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Of the many in the game, these are the ones that stick out. They will be ranked based on the character stories and the rewards they will dish out.
7 Yuanhua
A Healer In Training
Yuanhua is a practicing physician who decides to travel along with The Wanderer on his journey and hopefully become a better healer. Bringing Yuanhua back to the Inn will open up a new set of menus including a detailed diary that can help keep track of the game’s deep lore. Yuanhua’s main side missions include collecting herbs that he makes into potions to help The Wanderer recover from his amnesia. Yuanhua is a strong, noble character who is trying to do right one vial of medicine at a time. Technically, he’s not a surveyed bond in the game but he’s deserving of making it alongside these others regardless.
6 Yueying
A Dismantling Inventor
Yueying is a brilliant inventor but one with a timid personality. Unlike a lot of the characters players can bond with, most of Yueying’s interactions will give players short missions. Typically players will then have to dismantle weapons in stages like chariots. Yueying will then take those parts to invent something to benefit humanity instead of killing them.
Dynasty Warriors Origins - Every Weapon Type, Ranked
Players have access to a good variety of weapon types in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, but some are a bit more effective in combat than the rest.
It’s a noble cause that leads to some interesting revelations. It’s just a shame she doesn’t perk up as much in the bonding conversations beyond being eternally grateful to The Wanderer.
5 Diaochan
A Sad Fate For An Assassin
Diaochan is one of the more tragic characters in the game. She’s a powerful assassin who can take care of herself when The Wanderer meets Diaochan and her father for the first time. While she’s not a playable character, she will assist in some early missions. Unfortunately, she’s wed off to Dong Zhuo who abuses her in one way or another, leading to a terrible fate. Players will have to enjoy their conversations with Diaochan while they can because she won’t be around forever in the campaign.
4 Liu Bei
A Great Leader
Of the factions that players can join in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Liu Bei’s will be hard to resist. He’s a charismatic leader who genuinely seems to be fighting for the people without any other reason. He’s not hungry for power or corrupt to get wealthy. Liu Bei wants the best for the country and will do anything, even put his life on the line, to save others. It’s easy to sympathize with his plights in the game through bonding episodes or the main story. Also, for players who like green, there’s plenty of the color in Liu Bei’s company.
3 Zhou Cang
From Yellow To Green
Zhou Cang is one of the later characters who will appear during Liu Bei’s campaign. He started as an enemy on the side of the Yellow Turbans. However, after seeing Guan Yu fight in battle, Zhou Cang gets a change of heart. He could have become a thief after the rebels disbanded but he instead enlisted into Liu Bei’s army just to get closer to Guan Yu. Hearing him gush over Guan Yu along with cracking a few jokes helps make Zhou Cang stick out even though he’s in it for a relatively short time compared to other characters.
2 Han Dang
A Good Friend With Bad Luck
Han Dang is one of the funniest characters in the game even though he’s not trying to be. Players meet him over lunch in the game and he excitedly tries to tell The Wanderer how they met. Players can play ignorant and pretend they don’t remember him which will hurt his feelings.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Best Early Battle Arts To Unlock ASAP
Players can make enemies quake in their boots early on in Dynasty Warriors: Origins thanks to these Battle Arts.
The restaurant doesn’t even pay attention to him as they forget his order. While his bonding conversations are played for comedic effect, Han Dang does have a kind soul and is interesting to talk to once the heart of the conversation starts to unearth itself.
1 Gan Ning
The Wild Bunch
Gan Ning is a great character to hang out with if players would like to imagine Ichiban Kasuga hanging out in this period of China. Ichiban is from the Yakuza series and shares the English voice actor with Gan Ning, Kaiji Tang.
It goes beyond the voice too as both characters are a bit laid back and wild at the same time. The only bad thing about Gan Ning is that he doesn’t appear much in the story since he doesn’t belong to any of the major families like Cao Cao’s. Players will have to enjoy Gan Ning in Dynasty Warriors: Origins while they can and get some good laughs in too.
