According to the game's Steam page, Dying Light: The Beast is a standalone chapter in the series, which still leaves the door open for a mainline Dying Light 3. He may not have the same strong following that Kyle Crane has, but there is still a lot of potential for Aiden as a lead character. Frankly, Aiden's agility and the fact that a post-outbreak world is all he knows might even make him more capable than Kyle Crane. There's even the potential for Aiden Caldwell to be featured in Dying Light: The Beast via the game's co-op mode. This has yet to be confirmed, but it's not impossible just yet.
Dying Light: The Beast was intended to be DLC for Dying Light 2. However, after hackers leaked data of the expansion, developer Techland decided to make it a full-blown game.
