The official poster for DC's Black Adam has just been revealed by Dwayne Johnson, shedding the spotlight on the members of the Justice Society of America. With the film scheduled to release in theaters soon, Warner Bros. Is ramping up the promotional campaign for the upcoming DC Extended Universe film. The poster is just a glimpse at the lead actors, but the real show arrives tomorrow in the form of a new trailer.
Taking to social media, Johnson revealed the official Black Adam poster that has his titular character front and center, with the JSA members appearing in some sort of hierarchical order. “A new era in the DC Universe has begun,” reads the caption, reminding fans of the importance of the upcoming film. But, more importantly, Johnson revealed that a new Black Adam trailer will be released on Thursday, which was later confirmed by Warner Bros. As well.
Apart from Johnson's Teth-Adam, the poster features Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi's Adrianna Tomaz. To further build hype, each of the main characters also got their own stunning individual posters, which were all shared by Warner Bros. On its Instagram account. The character posters offered a new and closer look at the suits that each will don in the much-awaited DC film.
Black Adam has had to wait a long time before finally being green lit for production and release. Johnson was supposedly first cast as the antihero back in 2007 and confirmed his casting much later in 2014. He was then expected to be a part of 2019’s Shazam!, but the studio decided that the character would get his own standalone film. While the film was initially scheduled to complete production and release in 2021, the ongoing pandemic and the Black Adam visual effects team's workload caused further delays. Fifteen years after Johnson was first brought on to the project, the film will finally see the light of day.
Black Adam will be the first DC film to release following the massive news of Warner Bros. Abruptly canceling the Batgirl movie. There has been some reshuffling of release dates and talks of the company restructuring since then as well, but it seems like Black Adam's release has not been affected. The film is being promoted as a shift in the DCEU, bringing to light the company’s elaborate plans of forming a franchise similar to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It remains to be seen whether the studio succeeds in its grand plans. For now, fans await the new trailer.
Black Adam is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 21, 2022.
