Dungeons of Hinterberg, once an Xbox console exclusive, will make the jump to PlayStation 5 on March 13, 2025. Developed by Microbird Games, the puzzle-filled action RPG Dungeons of Hinterberg was first launched on July 18, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Thanks to Xbox's latest ad campaign, the gaming giant's new approach to business isn't a secret. Unlike PlayStation, which often opts for exclusivity deals for its consoles, the Microsoft-owned company has decided to go down a different route, beginning to bring its first-party titles to other platforms. As a result, popular games from Xbox's library, such as Hi-Fi Rush and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, are either already available on PlayStation or are in the pipeline to be ported. Given its handling of first-party games, it isn't too surprising to find out that the third-party title Dungeons of Hinterberg will be the latest to arrive on Sony's flagship console.

In a new Twitter post, Microbird Games revealed Dungeons of Hinterberg's March 13 launch date for the PS5. This move will ultimately make the action RPG title, which involves defeating monsters using a mix of weapons and magic, available on all major platforms, except on the Switch. As per Push Square, the Austrian indie studio reportedly added that the game's PS5 port would come bundled with a "new, secret bonus episode" on top of the base game. Assuming this is true, it will mark another instance in which a former Xbox console exclusive is getting a more appealing PlayStation port. Notably, Dungeons of Hinterberg's arrival on PS5 also expands the list of well-received indies on the platform, with an impressive overall average score of 81 on OpenCritic.

Dungeons of Hinterberg PS5 Release Date

2025 has kicked off with the announcement of some major Xbox titles heading to PlayStation, and Dungeons of Hinterberg is the newest one to join this growing lineup. On January 30, the highly popular racing game Forza Horizon 5 was confirmed to be coming to PS5 later in Spring 2025, surprising fans of the franchise. Lately, there have also been rumors about two more popular Xbox IPs possibly making the transition to becoming available on multiple consoles: Halo and Gears of War.

While most of the traffic right now seems to be headed from Xbox to PlayStation, there have been a few times in which the tide has flowed in the opposite direction as well. For instance, in August 2024, Kena: Bridge of Spirits gave up its PlayStation console exclusivity by entering the lengthy catalog of Xbox games.
