The Ornithopter is one of the vehicles players can get in Dune: Awakening, and it's one of the late-game objectives to unlock for those aiming to move faster and further in the world of Arrakis. But farming all the materials and unlocking all the prior technologies to obtain this flying machine is tough, especially for solo players.

So, here's a guide on how to unlock the Ornithopter faster in Dune: Awakening, including how to rush parts, how to build one, and the best places to get free parts faster so that players can soar the skies, away from those annoying sandworms.

How To Unlock Ornithopter in Dune: Awakening

The Ornithopter is part of the Aluminum Tier (Tier 4) and needs to be unlocked once players manage to reach the Hagga Rift and Eastern Rock Wall region in Dune: Awakening. In these two areas, players will find some of the materials they need to build their Ornithopters, including Aluminum, Erythrite Crystal (for Cobalt Paste), Diamondine Dust, Advanced Servoks, and other rare resources.

Here's a complete list of all the materials players need to craft their first Ornithopter:

  • Water x 57000 ml. (Aprox.) Used for refining various materials and crafting the parts.
  • Aluminum x 241 Ingots (1800 Ores)
  • 82 x Cobalt Paste (Refined Erythrite Crystal x 250)
  • 46 x Advanced Servoks
  • 22 x Particle Capacitors
  • 14 x Diamondine Dust
  • 8 x Industrial Pumps
  • 8 x Complex Machinery
  • 7 x Carbide Scraps

Ideally, players would want to establish a base between The Crossroads and Pinnacle Station Trading Posts, to ensure they have access to all the materials they need before starting the farming process. Erythrite Crystal can be acquired in the CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facilities in Hagga Rift, but the rest of the mats are found between these two trading posts.

How to farm Holtzman Actuators in Dune: Awakening

Holtzman Actuators are required for many end-game schematics in Dune: Awakening, and here's the best method to farm them.

But there's a way to get an Ornithopter even faster, that skips all the tedious process of building one from scratch, and will allow players to fly faster. Though this method will result in a makeshift Ornithopter, it will allow players to fly and acquire materials really fast, so that they can later replace it with a crafted, higher-quality Ornithopter.

How To Build An Ornithopter Fast In Dune: Awakening

The first method to unlock an Ornithopter fast is to farm all the parts that can drop from certain Loot Containers in Points of Interest. Players need 4 x Wings, 1 x Chassis, 1 x Cockpit, 1 x Engine, 1 x Generator, and 1 x Hull to build the Ornithopter. They will also need a Welding Tool Mk. 2 (or higher) to assemble the parts. Here's a list of the points of interest (PoI) players need to farm to get the Ornithopter parts with ease:

  • Southern Comms (Easy lootable chest, climbing through the northeastern wall): Drops Wings, Engine, Generator.
  • Mysa Tarill (Players can access from behind the temple, skip most enemies, kill a sniper, and grab the Access Key, then go inside, kill the enemies, and take down the door with a cutteray to get the second key and loot the chest): Drops Engine, Hull, Chassis.
  • Imperial Testing Station Nº 163: Several Containers can drop various parts (Engine, Cockpit, Wings, Generator).
  • Sentinel City: Various Chests drop Cockpit, Engine, Chassis, Hull.

Players can check the Arrakis Map in case they need to orient themselves to find any of the mentioned locations.

In Southern Comms, players can find a garage that contains a Sand Buggy they can claim for free. Grab it to speed up the process of farming parts or materials for crafting the Ornithopter.

How To Purchase Ornithopter Parts

Faction Vendor Selling Ornithopter Parts in Dune Awakening

When players have reached Rank 3 of their respective Factions (either Harkonnen or Atreides), they can also purchase a full Ornithopter from their respective faction vendors and assemble it using the Vehicle Welding Tool.

Another method to get the Ornithopter faster, and it implies purchasing the parts from the players in Arrakeen and Harko Village. The Exchange Stations sell the parts for a price range that goes from 50 K to 100 K Solaris each, so players will need around 1 KK Solaris to get all the parts they need to build their Ornithopter.

But if players have been farming around and completing quests, they might have this quantity deposited in their Banks already. It's just a 2500 Solaris ticket to any of the Social Hubs, then they can purchase the parts there.
