Drive Rally lets you play Quick Races or in the Championship to get more money so you can unlock a range of different vehicles for races. Each car has something unique to offer when it comes to how it drives and its physics.

There are 12 cars, and each has a CL, RS, and XR upgraded version to choose from as well. While the CL versions unlock at around $5000, XR's cost $50,000, which is nothing to scoff at. Each vehicle has a different strength depending on your driving style and the terrain you're flying on, but some are better than others when it comes to unlocking your first set of cars.

Best Drive Rally Cars to Unlock Early

When you're first starting out, you likely won't have enough cash to spend on the XR upgrades in Drive Rally, but winning enough races can get you enough to get the CL and RS versions. These are the cars that have the best handling and physics overall and are the best options to sink your money into when you start unlocking new vehicles.

Bretzel CL

Drivetrain: RWD
Power: 200 HP
Mass: 1250 KG

The Bretzel is a great choice for Drive Rally players who are just starting out, as it handles quite well on all terrains and maps. You need to sacrifice speed a little in order to get around sharper corners without diving into the barriers, but overall, it's a nice first pick once you get your first payout from a race.

The RS and XR versions of the Bretzel perform similarly to the CL, with the exception that the XR has 555 Horsepower alongside 1150 KG weight, making it a true speedster you can take around the track with fair handling over ramps and other obstacles. Overall, it's a nice upgrade from the Holzwagen and a good all-round option for getting to know tracks at the start.

Das Sandsturm CL

The Sandsturm is a great pickup in Drive Rally because it's the first car you get with four-wheel drive. Reminiscent of the Audi Quattro, which introduced four-wheel drive in real-world rally racing, this vehicle handles beautifully. Drifting can take a little bit of practice, but you won't find yourself knocking into barriers very much when you get it right.

It's on the heavier side with low power, so you may want to stay away from tracks that have more complicated twists and turns, especially while you're still getting used to how it drives. The RS and XR versions only increase in power and are on the lighter side, so if you like how it drives, it'll be worth upgrading this car when you have enough money to get either one.

Bobond CL

Mass: 850 KG

Don't let the low power of the Bobond fool you, because the real reason you'd want to pick up this car is because it's the lightest vehicle on the list. Lighter means that you'll be able to handle it easier over ramps and other obstacles, and the Bobond is great at recovering when you accidentally hit a barrier or stop in the middle of your race, so you can get back to speed quite quickly if you find yourself in a bad situation.

The RS and XR versions get even better with 304 and 527 Horsepower respectively, while still keeping the weight of the car under 1000 KG. It's a great pickup especially when you start trying out more challenging tracks, so make sure it's among your first when you have the cash to buy it.

Speed Runner RS

Drivetrain: 4WD
Power: 354 HP
Mass: 1280 KG

When you get the chance to buy your first RS upgrade in Drive Rally, the Speed Runner should be high on the list because of its horsepower. It has the second-highest HP in the game after the Vitello, but it handles much better, and it's likely you'll get a lot more value out of it at the start. Just be careful with this one, because you'll be going at high speeds without much control over the car.

This is why the RS would be a better option than the CL version. RS comes with four-wheel drive, offering better grip on different terrains and making it a little easier to get past more intricate tracks while still keeping the speed you want from this car.

Celestia RS

Drivetrain: 4WD
Power: 330 HP
Mass: 1100 KG

Lastly, the Celestia RS is another great upgrade option if you have the cash and want an all-rounder vehicle that can perform well in pretty much every situation. The low mass and higher horsepower mean that you can speed up quickly without sacrificing it to drift well and get over ramps, plus it has four-wheel drive for optimal grip so you can succeed on any terrain.

The main restriction with the Celestia is the "Master of None" adage, where some vehicles may outperform you on certain tracks because it doesn't excel particularly well at any one thing. For a starter car, though, and as something you can use to get to know the tracks better, it's one of the best options in Drive Rally you can sink your winnings into when you come off the tracks.
