As players make their way through Dredge's most recent DLC, "The Iron Rig," they will unlock and upgrade a variety of facilities on the platform. Each new building will offer several new and improved items and abilities for your boat. When given this task in the game, many players will likely wonder which buildings they should upgrade first in The Iron Rig DLC. This guide will explain how upgrades work in Dredge's 'The Iron Rig' DLC, and provide players with a full list of requirements.

Dredge: The Iron Rig – Building Upgrades Explained
In Dredge: The Iron Rig, players will interact with a modified offshore drilling platform, similar to a large offshore oil derrick. Instead of oil, this platform has been built by the Ironhaven Corporation to run a mysterious experiment, which the player becomes deeply involved in.
When first arriving at the eponymous Iron Rig, players will notice that there is not much to interact with, let alone upgrade. This is because the Iron Rig is meant to be built-up over time, as the main story progresses. Over the course of the main narrative, players will need to both construct and upgrade several new facilities on the platform. The order in which these new buildings are created is largely dictated by the story, and is not decided by the player. Here, we will list the order in which each structure will be built, so players will know what to expect, and when a desired Boat upgrade will become available.
Even though players do not have the freedom to build each structure when they want to, knowing the order and building requirements is still incredibly helpful. By knowing the required materials in advance, players can begin collecting them from the moment they begin 'The Iron Rig,' which will save them from a considerable amount of backtracking.
How and When to Craft Every Building in Dredge: The Iron Rig
Complete Building List:
The first step to building The Iron Rig is to locate it. It is visible from nearly every point of the map, but just in case, players will find it between the Twisted Strand and the Devil's Spine, in the center or the north end of the map. Upon arrival, players will begin with their very first crafting requirements. The following list will start here, and go through to the end:
- Upon docking at the Iron Rig for the first time, players will be introduced to the Ironhaven Crates. These lost supplies are essential to building and upgrading every new facility on the platform. Any time you encounter them floating in the sea, make sure to collect them.
The construction of each building and upgrade is triggered by the completion of a specific mission or story event. You will know when a building is ready for construction when the name box has a small, yellow triangle at the top.

Every task listed above represents the full list of building and upgrade projects in Dredge: The Iron Rig. It can be completed relatively quickly if players rush through it, but one of the true joys of Dredge is really taking the time to experience your surroundings. And even though this is the full list of construction projects, there is still a bit more to the story that players will uncover after fully constructing the Iron Rig.
