Figure in Gold is an optional pursuit in Dredge that is obtained by speaking with the hooded figure on the island in K2. As players work through this pursuit, they will be instructed to catch a Red Snapper, a Fangtooth, and a Blue Crab, though they will not be told where to look for them. Fortunately, it is not extremely difficult to find the creatures required for Dredge's Figure in Gold pursuit, and this guide is here to provide details on their locations.
Before getting into the locations of the relevant creatures, it is worth mentioning that the Figure in Gold pursuit is on a timer, as are all the hooded figure pursuits in Dredge. As such, players must address this side quest with some alacrity if they hope to complete it before the hooded figure passes away. That said, fans should not be too upset if the figure perishes before they are finished, as they can still earn the achievement that requires the completion of all pursuits.
Red Snapper Location
The Red Snapper is a Coastal fish that can be caught with a rod or net during the day. While this fish can be found in various locations around Stellar Basin, Dredge players need not even travel that far, as there is a Red Snapper fishing spot in K2, just northwest of the hooded figure.
Fangtooth Location
The Fangtooth is an Abyssal fish that can be caught with a rod both during the day and at night. To find one, fans should make their way to the southwest corner of H2 or simply spend some time sailing around Stellar Basin. Notably, players will not have the ability to catch this fish prior to completing the first half of Dredge's Research Assistant pursuit, which is initiated at the Old Fortress in Stellar Basin and unlocks Abyssal fishing.
Blue Crab Location
Blue Crabs can be caught with pots in the waters of Dredge's Stellar Basin that are less than 5m deep. While there are many locations that fill that requirement, including the area surrounding the Starlight Pontoon in E2, catching crabs can be a bit random. Players that are trying to obtain a Blue Crab for Figure in Gold are thus advised to use this strategy, which will prevent them from exceeding the pursuit's time limit:
- Dock at the Starlight Pontoon to make a save.
- Place several crab pots in the shallow waters near the pontoon.
- Sail around the pots until they are flashing, indicating that a crab has been caught.
- If the pots have not caught a Blue Crab, quit to the main menu, load the save at the Starlight Pontoon, and try again.
Figure in Gold Pursuit Reward
Upon giving the Blue Crab to the hooded figure, players will complete Figure in Gold and receive their reward. Specifically, fans of fishing video games will earn the Advanced Fishing book, which increases rod effectiveness by 15% when read.
