P.T. Is probably one of the most infamous video game demos of all time. Appearing suddenly on the PlayStation Store following a nonchalant announcement at Gamescom 2014, P.T. Was a mysterious demo that quickly became a phenomenon due to its photorealistic graphics, its obtuse puzzles, and its groundbreaking jump scares and horror atmosphere. P.T.'S infamy grew exponentially when it was revealed to be a teaser for a Hideo Kojima-led Silent Hill reboot.
But P.T.'S life was cut abruptly short. Kojima left Konami, Silent Hills was canceled, and P.T. Was delisted in April 2015. The only way to play P.T. Officially is to own a PS4 with P.T. Still installed that hasn't been hooked up to the internet since 2015. But that hasn't stopped dedicated fans from trying to recreate the iconic demo. The latest attempt to remake P.T. Might be one of the most impressive yet, with a team of passionate fans recreating the entire playable teaser in PlayStation's Dreams.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Healing Items Bridge a Perfect Modern Survival-Horror Gap
Bloober's Silent Hill 2 masterfully modernizes the classic survival-horror title and in doing so it makes neat alterations to available healing items.
A Fan Remake of P.T. Is Now Playable in Dreams
P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition Is a Loving Remake Made By Fans
Released back in February 2020, Dreams is a Media Molecule-developed PlayStation exclusive that revolves around user-generated content. Players are given a vast range of assets and tools and are given the freedom to create whatever they can imagine, from smaller-scale virtual reality audiovisual experiences to full-length video games that last for several hours. The latest attempt to remake P.T. Can be found in Dreams.
Created by DrJones20, APE_MONKEY_BOY21, and LuciferSainttt over many months, P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition is available right now for free for anyone who owns Dreams. This is an incredibly ambitious project, and for the most part, it succeeds in remaking the entirety of P.T., lovingly recreating its visuals, lighting effects, character models, and most importantly, its gameplay.
While remakes of P.T. Have been releasing at a pretty steady rate since October 2014, when Spawn N8NE remade the demo in Project Spark, this latest iteration might be the most complete remake yet, essentially offering as close of an experience to the original as possible given the developers' toolset.
P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition Even Adds New Features
But on top of a full, faithful recreation of the original Silent Hills teaser, P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition brings a few new features of its own. The most impressive addition is full compatibility with the original PlayStation VR headset, allowing players to stumble through the iconic darkened hallways of P.T.'S house in a horrifying new dimension. Unfortunately, Dreams doesn't support PSVR2, but if fans have the original headset lying around, it's certainly worth hooking up for a terrifying taste of what a VR Silent Hill game could have looked like.
P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition also contains a new Easter egg that pays homage to the legendary Hideo Kojima and a hidden gallery that contains images from the remake's development. While there are countless new horror games to play through this Halloween, including Silent Hill 2 Remake, P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition should be right at the top of that list for any fans desperate to return to the short-lived demo.
