Upon getting closer to the end of Dragon’s Dogma 2, players will inevitably see a gigantic stone statue emerge from the depth of the water. It’s a boss fight that Arisen can participate in by heading to the area south of Bakbattahl, the capital of Battahl.
The Guardian Gigantus, which goes by the name Talos, is an unusual boss made of stone and is full of spikes poking out of it in specific locations on its body. Defeating that monstrous being rewards a hefty amount of XP and a couple of rare items in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How To Complete The Guardian Gigantus Quest In Dragon’s Dogma 2
The Guardian Gigantus Quest will be triggered shortly after A New Godsway Quest is completed. Ironically, even though the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Quest is called the Guardian Gigantus, the boss fight is optional. Players don’t have to defeat it to proceed with the Quest, as the Guardian Gigantus will be dead no matter what you do. However, not personally killing the boss will make you miss out on some rare loot and a considerable amount of XP, so keep that in mind.
If you choose not to kill it, proceed with the area normally and explore to your heart's content while heading to Moonlight Tower. Arisen's adventure will be interrupted from time to time with a cutscene to show them what’s happening to the Guardian Gigantus. Eventually, it will die, and players must head to Moonlight Tower to complete the Guardian Gigantus Quest.
How To Defeat the Guardian Gigantus In Dragon’s Dogma 2
To defeat the Guardian Gigantus, players must climb the statue and remove the spikes. Upon unlocking the closed gate using the sword, run down the slope to see Talos emerge from the water and start its march towards the Volcanic Island. Follow the monster's path and head to the island to find higher ground.
Once the Guardian Gigantus is close, jump on its body and start attacking the spikes to remove them. Each spike that fell to the ground contains a
Wakestone Shard, so make sure to go around and collect all the available shards.
Since climbing and crawling consume stamina, consider crafting some stamina-replenishing potions in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Otherwise, you will fall from a great height. Additionally, some spikes like the one on the shoulders can be removed by standing on the Guardian itself, which doesn’t consume that much stamina.
Once all spikes are removed from the statue, keep hitting the statue either normally or using the ballista found along the path on the Volcanic Island. Eventually, the Guardian Gigantus will stop completely, and you will receive 20709 XP and 304 DCP.
