Updated April 5th, 2024 by Christopher Norman Worcester: As players have spent more time with Dragon's Dogma 2, more methods for increasing your max carry weight limit have been uncovered. This update will add any new methods, and refine the methods previously listed.
In Dragon's Dogma 2, many players will constantly reach their max carry weight limit. From the moment they are set free, the game is constantly throwing items at both the main player character, and the pawns that accompany them on their journey. This is a constant issue in many open-world action-RPGs, and Dragon's Dogma 2 is no exception.
Capcom Reveals About How Long Dragon's Dogma 2 Will Take to Beat
Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Dragon's Dogma 2, assured that players will be able to enjoy the game's world for quite some time.
Luckily, Dragon's Dogma 2 features many solutions that will help players increase their inventory size and carry capacity. From small-scale increases that players can utilize very early in the game, to larger methods that occur far less regularly, this guide will collect all available information on the subject.
This guide is a work in progress. Any new methods for increasing max carry weight in Dragon's Dogma 2 will be added to this guide as soon as it is discovered.
How to Increase Max Carry Capacity in Dragon's Dogma 2
Each character in Dragon's Dogma 2, whether player or pawn, has their own max carry limit. For any character in the player's party, this can be found in the Status section of the main menu. Simply press R2/RT to cycle between party members. For prospective pawns, this can be found in the 'Pawn Details' menu option when speaking with a specific pawn.
Players wishing to increase inventory size and carry capacity will have the following options:
Golden Trove Beetles:
- These small creatures provide the smallest boost to carry capacity, increasing max encumbrance by 0.15kg. Individually, this may seem insignificant, but there are scores of beetles to be found in the world of Dragon's Dogma 2. Make sure to check the inventories of all pawns in your party, as they often pick these beetles up.
- Golden Trove Beetles are found just about everywhere in Dragon's Dogma 2. Early in the game, players will find them on tree trunks. However, they can be found on rocks, beaches, sold by merchants, and given as rewards. When searching for Golden Trove Beetles, try waiting until night. Their distinctive golden glow can be seen from a considerable distance.
Ring of Accrual, Ring of Profusion:
- There are several rings that can increase the Arisen's – and their Main Pawn's – max carry weight limit. These rings are: Ring of Accrual and Ring of Profusion. They increase max encumbrance by 5kg and 10kg respectively.
-
How to Get the Ring of Accrual: The easiest way to get the
Ring of Accrual
is to purchase it from Runne's Apothecary in Melve for 6500 gold. This is the same location where players will be able to begin 'Medicament Predicament' very early in the game. Once in Vernworth (the Capital), players can get one for free for completing 'The Ornate Box.'
- How to Get the Ring of Profusion: The Ring of Profusion is found in a chest at the Ancient Battleground. It can be purchased from Zachary at the Excavation Site for 10000 gold. It is also give as a reward for turning in 70 of DD2's Seeker's Tokens to a Guild Hall.
Thew Augment:
- This Augment can be acquired at the Guild Halls through the 'equip skills' menu. Thew increases max carry weight by 10kg. It will be the third augment available to unlock for the Fighter vocation. It appears that at least some unlocked Augments are still available when changing vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2. Whether this applies to every Augment is currently unknown.
Leveling Up Your Character:
- Leveling up a character will increase max carry capacity every fifth level. So far, at level 5, 10, 15, etc., 3kg has been added to the max encumbrance of the main character. After level 30, 4kg is added to the max encumbrance level.
It is important to remember that the player character is not alone in its ability to increase their max encumbrance. While it doesn't appear that pawns can use Golden Trove Beetles, all the other methods apply. Pawns are capable of wearing rings, purchasing Augments from the Vocation Guild, and increasing max carry weight through leveling up.
