Checkpoint Rest Town is a location in Dragon's Dogma 2 situated on the west side of the map on the Vermund-Battahl border. There's not a lot to see or do in the settlement, but there are actually some quests players can partake in for a reward, such as the Hunt for the Jadeite side quest, which has multiple outcomes depending on the players' choices and decisions.

How to Start 'Hunt for the Jadeite Orb' Quest
As soon as we got to Checkpoint Rest Town during the day, a Beastren named Offulve came up to us near the northern entrance. This is how the quest kicks off. He'll ask players if they know where a special item called a Jadeite Orb is. It turns out that Offulve's master, Everard, is also in town searching for the same item.
Master Everard will also tell you to find the Jadeite Ore for him, but he's hanging out close to the Scrap Shop, which is where the Orb actually is.
How to Find the Jadeite Ore in Dragon's Dogma 2
Luckily, the Jadeite Ore can be found in town. Find Ibrahim's Scrap Shop on the west side of town, and he'll sell it to you for 7500 Gold. If you need more money, you can try completing other quests or selling any needed items to the shops.
You can also request a forgery from the shop owner, and he'll make a copy of the Jadeite Orb for a cost. It will also take a few days to duplicate, so you'll need to pass the time and check back later. However, there are consequences to giving one of the fake items to the quest givers, which we will go over in the next section.
Now, there seem to be several different outcomes for the 'Hunt for the Jadeite Orb' quest. These are the ones we've discovered so far. We'll update this post if we come across other outcomes.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Have Time-Limited Quests
Dragon’s Dogma 2 features some quests that will require players to diverge from their intended path in order to complete them in time.
Hunt for the Jadeite Orb Outcomes and Rewards
- If you give the fake Jadeite Orb to Everard, he will ask you to come with him to verify its authenticity. He'll find out the orb is indeed a fake and will send guards after you. If you get arrested, you'll end up in a prison far away from the settlement. It seems that if you pay enough money to the shopkeeper while he's verifying the gem, he might lie and tell Everard that it's a legit item.
- If you give the real Jadeite Orb to Everard, he'll still ask to verify its authenticity. You'll get 12000 Gold and the Ring of Skullduggery as a reward, on top of 1000 XP. You'll still need to talk with Everard to wrap up the quest.
The Ring of Skullduggery increases damage dealt when attacking foes from behind.
-
If you give Offulve the real
Jadeite Orb, he'll be free to do what he wants and will give you 3000 Gold, an
Elite Camping Kit, and 1000 XP.
-
And finally, you can give Offulve the fake
Imitation Jadeite Orb
and give the legit one to Everard, allowing you to get rewards from both men.
The Elite Camping Kit makes it harder for monsters to attack you during a night out camping.
Should You Give the Jadeite Orb to Everard or Offulve?
The best outcome so far is to give Everard the real Jadeite Orb and the fake one to Offulve. This will not only give you more Gold but also that really useful Ring of Skullduggery. Offulve won't check the orb for its authenticity, so you'll be good to go.
It's also worth noting that after giving Everard the fake item, he continued to be angry at us, sending guards to fight the party if we got to close to him.
