Saving progress has to be one of the most crucial features in Dragon's Dogma 2. Various dangers are lurking around the map and players should figure out how to save progress to avoid repeating previous steps or to go back in time before their Pawns or the main character dies.
Other than manual save, Dragon's Dogma 2 also offers an auto-save feature that triggers every now and then, especially after completing a quest, discovering a new area, or winning a tough fight. Staying at inns is also considered a method for saving progress in Dragon's Dogma 2.
How To Save In Dragon's Dogma 2
There are two types of save methods players can use in Dragon's Dogma 2; manual save and auto-save. For both methods, you can only load either the last save or the last inn you stay at.
Keep in mind that if you haven't stayed in an inn for a while, reloading from the last inn may cause you to lose hours of gameplay.
Manual Save
The first method can be split into two types, which are the option save and the inn/home save. The option save is basically what it says. You open the main menu and head down to the System option. Choose the Save button to be met with three options:
- Save and Continue
- Save and Return to Title Screen
- Return to Title Screen Without Saving
Once the save process is complete, the moment you pick to load save from the last checkpoint, Dragon's Dogma 2 will load from the manual save you made.
As for the other option, Arisen needs to rest at any inn or in their own homes, be it in Vermund or Battahl, for the saving process to take place. After you arrive at the inn, pay the required amount of Gold and choose if you wish to wake up in the morning or at night. Once some time passes, players will wake up alongside their Pawns in Dragon's Dogma 2. This will create a save, so if the players die, they will have the option to load the game from the last inn they stayed at.
Sleeping will also trigger your Pawn returning from the Rift if they journeyed with Arisen in another world, so it's a good idea to rest in an establishment from time to time.
Auto-Save
Unlike manual save, auto-save can’t be controlled and will occur occasionally while players are exploring the map and completing quests. A red circle will appear in the top right corner of the screen to indicate an auto-save.
There are many ways to trigger the auto-save feature, like exploring certain parts of the map, camping outside in the wild, or talking with certain NPCs. However, considering the auto-save occurs every few minutes, it’s not necessary to try and force it.
